Armor is an important part of Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered, as its many resistances and weight will determine how effective you are in combat. This page features the many Armor sets in the game as well as their stats and the manner by which you can obtain them. Please see this page for a guide on choosing the best armor for your character.

Armor is also a cosmetic choice, and individual pieces can be mixed and matched to create an optimized setup, from a defensive and fashion perspective. Armor can be upgraded. To view individual pieces of armor please see the Helms, Chest Armor, Gauntlets and Leggings pages.

Armor by Weight

About the Categories

Armor is grouped into Light, Medium and Heavy Armor based on an endurance level of 40 (Burden = 80) as this seems to be the level a lot of players aim to cap their Endurance at (it corresponds to the Stamina cap of 160). This will surely change as the meta-game shifts and the page should be edited accordingly.
Note: These numbers DO NOT take into account weapons/shields/bows/etc. Light, Medium and Heavy will ALWAYS depend upon your own equip burden stat.
Groupings are based on the following numbers (which correspond to movement/roll speed for that range of Equip Burden):

  • Heavy Sets = 40.1 - 80
  • Medium Sets = 20.1 - 40
  • Light Sets = 0 - 20

if your getting into PvP just accept your build is not gonna look that pretty. the poise diaper (hollow soldier waistcloth) is too good not to use in every build. chain armor knight armor giants and havels chest are just always the best. mothers mask is a must aswell. making the builds not look too unique but if you git gud at the PvP you earn the ability to use fashion builds. unless your invading anywhere but the township. anything goes there against PvE players. and personally i think the chain mom look is actually clean af

To be honest this is the best game in the souls franchise. Classic bosses and amazing game play. Every time I look at it it bring back a lot of memories. Amazing game!

Twinkling titanite armor doesn't have as much defense per weight as titanite armor fully upgraded, but they're pretty much equal at +5/+9, and you're probably not gonna use four slabs for like 30 defense

I have question please anwser back i would really appreciate it.

Since dark souls 1 doesn't have the dessert sorceress armor in game i would like to ask what armor combo is the best to make your character look like a dessert sorceress?

I wanted to make a dessert sorceress cosplay in any dark souls game. And have done it on ds2, ds3, but ds1 is difficult since there is no armor for them in game.

So if you know what armor combo is the best i could use to make my character look like it, plz responed to this comment.

( already thank you, if you commented back)

I find the running animations for a fat build more satisfying than a mid weight build. With high poise and a strong shield you can quit rolling and have a viable build that feels encouraged by the game. In DS3 being under 70% is completely favoured by the game and being a fat build is totally discouraged by the mechanics and it’s really sad. The standard knight armour description even states “do not think to use it without the necessary vitality “ which is the game telling you that being under 70% is the only way to play the game. It’s only recently enough that I’ve come to realise DS1 treats all types of builds equally (at least in PvE) and it just feels better playing the game knowing there’s no real favouritism going on.

Could you guys help me out? I’m mid rolling with the Elite Knight Set, and although it’s not tragic, I’d like to keep my speed. Any recommendations? Should I get new armor, level up strength, just keep some pieces of the EKS? Thank you in advance!

Can anyone help me with my build? im trying to get a build that has 76 poise so it doesnt get staggered by anything, but also can achieve fast roll. Im gonna be super annoying and ask if it also doesnt use havels armor as im an aethsetic freak and hate how it looks. Can anyone help?

So in the character creation menu, I made it so that my boi had a larger lower body, cause obviously he couldn't skip leg day. Ruined my entire armour wearing experience. Literally anything that ran down the sides for the chest piece was blown out of proportion, and absolutely atrocious. Even those supposed slim fit sets (such as the Shadow Set) made him look like the chonkiest boy to ever live. Next time you want to customize your characters physical attributes, check how armour looks on them please. Half the sets can't even be worn without breaking the emersion of whatever feel your going for.

who knows a good set for a Eustace Bagge cosplay? because i'm doing an all hammer build. he needs his mallet

                          • Just a heads up; At +5 Black Iron Set has the 2nd highest Physical resist and 1st highest Fire resist. Giants Set +5 has the highest Physical resist in game but offers no Curse protection unlike Black Iron Set. Hope this helps people searching for good Heavy options.
