Located in areas of Darkroot, you may receive your Elite Knight set.

If you use the Master Key, you can cut through the Valley of Drakes to receive a good starting Crest Shield, and your primary weapon for the beginning of the game, in which you face primarily Hollows and Undead.

Push on with the aim of either bypassing or defeating the Hellkite Wyvern on the Bridge. This will allow you to later become a Warrior of Sunlight - a possible faction. Otherwise, the souls for eliminating this boss enable you to advance even further.

There are a total of 4 possible variations of the Elite Knight of Astora character sets.

With your Elite Knight set - optionally advanced to +5 - and the legendary Crest Shield from the Undead Asylum, you can act as a Magekiller, blocking magic attacks to exterminate the user, quickly. The ideal weapon would be a spear (Lightning Spear, etc) to fight behind your shield. You could use rings to enhance physical or magical defense, or your statistics, and equipment load - i.e Havel's Ring and the Ring of Favor and Protection.

With your Elite Knight set - optionally advanced to +5 - and the legendary Dragoncrest Shield from the Valley of Drakes, you can act as a flame-deterring Defender. The ideal weapon of this class would be the Astora' s Straight Sword. You could use rings to enhance physical or flame defense, or your statistics, and equipment load - i.e Havel's Ring and the Ring of Favor and Protection.

With your Elite Knight set - optionally advanced to +5 - and the legendary Grass Crest Shield from the Darkroot Basin or Darkroot Garden strapped to your back, you can use the range of polearms. Halberds, Scythes, Spears and axes in the title of Striker. You could use rings to enhance mobility, such as the Dark Wood Grain Ring, and the Ring of Favor and Protection to further better statistics.

With your Elite Knight set - optionally advanced to +5 - and the Knight Shield from the Undead Parish locations you may wield the Astora's Straight Sword, Long Sword, or generally any sword, acting as a true Knight of Astora. You could use rings to enhance defense, mobility, or your statistics - Havel's Ring, Favor and Protection, or others.

Use at least one of these classes to engage in the upbringing of purity upon Lordran through engaging and invading those who may have sought to destroy it, or to engage in Jolly Cooperation.
