Giant Leech is an Enemy in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Enemies are hostile creatures that respawn when players rest at a Bonfire or upon death. Special enemies that do not respawn are classified as Bosses, Mini Bosses or Invaders.

Giant Leech Information

Giant Leeches inhabit the Blighttown swamp around the Great Hollow, and can be farmed for Large and Green Titanite Shards.

Drops

Attacks

  • Jump: The leech will jump at you. Easily blocked.
  • Spit: Leech will spit poisonous mucus at you. Easily blocked, but drains stamina. The poison effect is minor, compared to the swamp.
  • Body Slam: Similar to the jump attack but only done when they are closer.

Strategy

  • One of the easiest enemies as long as you don't let them swarm you. Have your shield out, run and swing. Then block and as soon as they bounce (yes they bounce) off of your shield, smack them. By the time you are in Blighttown they should die in 2 hits. Equip the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring and count on farming these guys for a long time if you are low on shards.
  • Avoid the poison spit they throw at you and don't let them tackle you. Just hit them a couple times with something and they will die. Groups are also susceptible to AoE attacks such as a lightning spear into the water.
  • Poking with a rapier or spear from behind a raised shield is a good strategy for handling multiple leeches.
  • With sufficient upgrades, it is possible to snipe and kill them with a single arrow without aggroing them.
  • Very weak against slash attacks and fire.

Ultimate proof that we live in a simulation: the game knows what you need but gives you the opposite loot.

These guys are great to farm but I hate when I accidentally tap one with my knee and it’s corpse ends up in Drangleic

You need to kill 500 of these to have a 100% chance on gettin green titanite shards.
There are 25 slugs in whole blight town. So you have to kill all of them 20 times to get 5green shards guranteed...

You should consider farming the slimes instead, as they are way easier to fight, there is a bonfire 5 meters from them, you aren't poisioned all the time and they have the same dropchance
