is it normal for your character to skitter forward while using this weapon two handed? I meet the stat requirements, it seems weird for my character to look like he struggles with the weapon when he really shouldn't.

With the leo ring and some poise this weapon is just straight up busted. It can hit upwards of 700+ damage when trading and thats without buffs

I love this weapon. I tried to switch to some different ones in my first play through, but I always ended up going back to old faithful.

I'm on my first Dark Souls playthrough, after beaten Elden Ring as a Str/Faith dw colossal sword build. But for some reason, in this particular game I have really found myself drawn to this + shield. I can just nervously poke my way through a lot of fights, and it's precise little Light stab is soo handy for all the narrow corridors in this game. I also love it's running Light, it's a satisfying fast BONK. And its Heavies are aoe spins which are great for hordes of rats or whatnot. And I can really bring some pain when I 2H it.
All in all, in my noob opinion, it's a great weapon, I love it.

great weapon for PvP. r1s are fast do a lot of damage and are safe when spaced. 2hr2 is an amazing wakeup option with the double hit almost always catching someone with at least one of the hits. the weapon has really good backstab damage. 24 str 45 dex is almost always the move with this thing 45 dex allows for pyromancies which are always good. very solid weapon very fun weapon.

If I upgrade it to +10 and then I want to add lightning/fire damage, will the physical damage go down??

I've seen so many posts saying the Halberd is good early game, but drops off late game... I don't know where this comes from however, because this weapon is still absolutely shredding through the NG+ DLC.

Excllent weapon but takes time to get used to it
Requires patience and timing and also keeping a little distance from enemy
Deadly In the right hands
But sometimes you need fast weapon and you cannot use it

Is it just me or is this weapon's moveset more similar to the Demon's Souls halberd?

NEVER use over a cliff. The R1's lurch you forward farther than they look and the R2's will barely cover for you. You will go off the cliff if you do.
Absurdly good otherwise. It excels in damage, crowd control, range and hardly clips walls. A fantastic weapon you can get early game.

as soon as i found the weapon and picked it up it has been a pleasure to use and i still use it

This weapon is a tiny bit bugged. When on poor footing and performing a running attack, it skips the build up portion of the attack animation, and deals damage almost instantly. this is of course without the Rusted Iron Ring. Happened to me on multiple playthroughs with the same weapon (Remastered version).
Does anybody else have the a similar experience with this or another weapon?

My first trustin weapon... when I found people were seeing this weapon as a strong early one, I was proud of myself and glad to have it as my companion.
We defeated ceaseless discharge right after queelag,
Love you, always.

How can i make halberd +11?? I've got it +10 but at the blacksmith it doesn't appear +11.
The halberd deals one of the most scariest damage in PvP. It's capable of 1HKO most players when using the following buffs: leo ring (optional), power within, dragon torso stone and what ever buff makes this weapon scary. In pve, it mow down bosses with ease. This halberd turns from I don't care to one of my favorite weapons in DSR. I recommend trying it out

I consider it the most underrated weapon. I've never seen YouTube vids of people putting it on their top 10 lists. People say it's a great early weapon, but I literally still use it when I'm way deep in the NG+ cycles. It's reach can't be beat.

Link on white titanite slab (Divine + 10 material) is not correct

The most versatile weapon ever invented. This thing carried me through so many playthroughs. Always in my heart.

Halberd is love, Halberd is life! (Great reach, move-set, and +15 stats and buff-able on top of that)

I wanted to go back and play DS again after 8 years and I realized I never had made a fire/chaos weapon in this game, mainly because they are just not good. At least not chaos/dark LKS DS3 good, but I did an early run for my GS and to kill pinwheel early and when I saw the blacksmith I just started running the numbers on all the weapons in my inventory and what the damage looked like fire wise, cuz my scythe is standard all the way, and I was impressed with the numbers. It has been an insanely good early weapon, I mean really useful and I'm only at fire +1

Utterly phenomenal weapon, fantastic in duels and group encounters. Biggest drawback is that it's awkward to use in close quarters, especially group encounters. This is a great weapon, but if you're facing a bunch of dudes in a small room, it's not the right tool for the job.

I tried to quit using the halberd, but it couldn't quit me. 10+ halberd all the waaaayyy
Get this +5 as soon as possible and make sure you have a few green titanite on you then when your around lvl 30 with a divine weapon make a fast run into the catacombs for vamos. It is highly recommended that you do this run with 10 soft humanity so you can hopefully pick up a skull lantern or 2 on the way. Get to vamos and turn this bad boy into a flaming halberd then homeward bone out (to avoid wheel skeltons) and back fire link then back to the storyline. Once your around SL60 and pretty much ready to handle ornstein and smaug leave anor londo and head to the demon ruins for the large flame ember. At this level it will be very dangerous but with some skill and determination it is doable (ring of fog helps a ton!) If you have ended all black knights so far and got both red titanite chunks in the hollow you can get your flaming halberd to at least +8 when you visit vamos again which is where we are off to next. If you have the gold covetous ring and 10 soft humanity with a bit of farming while your still in the ruins you can get enough for +9. Doing this will make ornstein and smaug battle much simpler with just solair for help. So far 3 for 3 my PC summons kill ornstein first when I'm obviously trying to take down smaug first. Really you can get this to +9 as soon as you have access to the demon ruins if your skilled enough. It will make PvE a breeze for most of your first playthrough.

Lock-on, control range and make them miss, hit to start stun, hit, hit, hit, they are dead.

My favorite long range weapon that when connects to a target, the recovery is fast. If you miss, recovery is slow so beware!
hey this is my first playthrough. i have a blackknight sword with 220 damage and this with 164. the total damage of this is about 220 but the BKS is like above 300 with my stats. I really like this weapon. Should I upgrade this or BKS later(i dont have twinkling titanite). I have the Halberd at +5 and iam starting Sens fortress. I confused on whether i should normal upgrade it or raw. I also have a drake sword but i wanna keep my dragon scales for weapons later on. the DS has 200 damage and its light sure but for some reason it stays at 200 with my stats.
