Large Flame Ember is an Ember in Dark Souls.
Large Flame Ember Location
- This ember is in a chest at the end of a hallway on the left, near the entrance to the Demon Firesage, and the shortcut to Lost Izalith.
- As you descend the stairs past the fire-breathing clay statues, you will see a Taurus Demon on a path to the left. Defeat it, and then defeat second one behind it to gain access to the hallway. Be wary, a centipede Demon pops out of the roof and will grapple you (typically a 1-shot). Defeat it and then dash to the chest. 4 more centipedes will spawn from the roof and create a deadly trap, your best bet is to run past, get the ember and use the homeward bone to escape. Otherwise bring a bow and lots of (heavy or poison) arrows. Also, for the arrow-tactic on the other hand, it is best to sneak through the hallway, as on that you will have left enough space between you and the worms every time. Even in the 4-worm death trap. Another option is to use a spear, as they have enough range to hit the worms without triggering their attacks.
- Bring a homeward bone, it makes the return process much easier

- Give the Ember to Blacksmith Vamos to ascend +5 Fire weapons to +10.
Large Flame Ember Notes
- Fire upgrade weapons cannot be buffed. However, the Magic Shield and Strong Magic Shield sorceries can still be used to enchant fire upgrade shields.
AnonymousThe worm trap isn't actually that dangerous. Just bring 8 dung pies and wait in the middle. They are MUCH less aggressive/dangerous than the one that comes from the ground.

know how i got this for a +10 fire Gargoyle Halberd? i frickin' RAN. i ran past the taurus demons (i was SL10 and not willing to wait for a plus 7 fire weapon til after i got high level) i dodged past those bloody worm monstrositys out of hell, and i homeward boned out of there after getting the ember

i haven't leveled my weapons to fire or divine or chaos or anything like that, only the normal weapon levels. so i heard o+s are weak to fire, and i want to know do i need this ember to just level my greatsword to +5 fire? i don't need to level it up to +10 fire, but i just needed to know if i need an ember to level it up to regular ol' +5 fire.

A cheesy alternative method is simply using poison arrows. Two arrows are enough to poison them and take 95% of their life. It's just a matter of patience.

Alternative method for dealing with the centipede demons is to get a Dragon great sword ( Two handed if required ). Upgrade it BEFORE you get the ember. Lure your self into the trap then use the dragon great swords mystical two hand power and watch them goes down like flies. Make sure you upgrade the sword though!
I usually play a Caster build, so I pretty much just laugh at the 4 Centipede Demon ambush. Free souls! And free Green Titanite! Which I will use to make more Magic/Divine/Fire weapons!
