    • If you kill Lautrec before he gets back to the Firelink Shrine you won't be able to pick up his armor set later.
    • If you kick him off the cliff, then reload the area. The ring will be where he was sitting. This is the easiest way to kill him.

I used to like using this ring but then I realized my play style usually revolves around heavier armor and it’s just more beneficial to use havel’s and some other ring because it’s easier to always be able midroll with just havel’s then to fatroll when you have this and some other mandatory ring equipped, i.e. orange charred ring or covenant of artorias.

I broke my first one but I'll go hollow before I give up my beautiful xanthous crown to replace it. I have other rings. I may have taken the ring off but I will NEVER take the xanthous crown off.

I never kill Lautrec before Anor Londo since I like Anastacia's voice and I want her ability to speak returned even if she still thiks her tounge is impure.

beast of a ring for PvP its an obvious choice running no fap require an insane amount of stat investment for hp alone. needing 1800 min. u need like 70 vit. when u would normaly need 50 vit with fav. and 50 vit favor with mothers gives u 1980. so its almost always worth using. but one of the most iconic builds in PvP is the havel mom great club aand that build is a dual ring build it uses havels and hornet

The use of this ring is interesting to say the least, it helps in making your character better tailored for a generalist build, due to the across the board health/endurance increase. Because of this, it's not as individually powerful as the specialist type rings (Hornet, Bellowing, Havels etc.) and is easily replaced if you're making a specialist build.
All in all, well designed ring that isn't limited to a specific niche. 10/10

Me, Coming from Elden Ring: "Oh no problem, I'll never need to take this off, I can run this, and Havel's, and Darkwood, it'll be a great! Wait... how many ring slots do we get?"

                • Anonymous

why can you only wear 2 rings even though you have 20 in total, 10 in your feet and another 10 in your hands

                  • Anonymous

It's not like you cannot remove it. First one you get from Lautrec that's obvious. But emergency replace is from Xanthous Crown - quite useless item unless you want it for some crazy fashion souls, so u can switch them once. Ok but then NG+ kicks in and you got total 4 rings. So if there are parts where u need to use both ring slots (specific farming etc) there's no problem to lose one or two FaPs. On NG++ and later it's even easier since u got your dream build and stuff farmed so u probably end with bunch of emergency FaP ring stored and never used anyway.

With the Xanthous crown being so atrociously ugly, I find it always handy and nice to trade it for a second ring of favour and protection, just in case I somehow decide to take it off.

                      • Anonymous

I always get xanthous crown and trade so plus the one I get from Lautrec I have a backup in case I wanna where full havels and mid roll in four kings fight because that basically makes the fight trivial. Then you can just pop another one back on and then NG+ you'll have two back ups. Who wants to where the xanthous crown anyway can't see **** right in front of you when it's on. I guess if you wanna cosplay King Jeremiah.

One thing this page doesn't mention is that it stacks with havels. Say you have 80 base equip load, havel's adds another 40 total of 120 so the RoFaP does 20% of 120 now instead of 80. Effectively making it a 30% increase from the base.

Imagine being salty because you loose 1 of your 2 ring slots...

                            • It's the best ring in the game, or perhaps just behind Havels... The problem is, when you take it off it breaks (you lose it)... so if you make a build around it (for example you can only fast roll with this ring on (it could be a thing in lower than meta builds) you don't really want to take it off, or you will mess up your build, so you only have 1 Ring slot to spare... In PVE this isn't much of an issue, but in PVP, a good player, will constantly swap rings: swap into a Havel (when you are using a really heavy weapon) swap into a Wolf Ring (when an opponent is trying to break your poise) a Red Ring (when you want to deal massive Damage to an OP 711 player) swap into Fog Ring (when you need to hide) a Leo Ring (when you suddenly change into a thrust weapon) a DWG ring (to escape with ninja flips or whatever) swap into Magic Bleed Lightning Defense Ring; a Hornet Ring to boost your criticals ETCETERA, and All the combinations above, that's why ideally you want the Two Slots available...
Making an item that is the most OP ring but coming at "a cost" is just a stroke of genius by FromSoft, things like this are what makes this game a master piece.

why does everyone hate this ring? it gives you massive bonuses and if you lose a ring slot so what? you still got another for your havels or your gold/silver serpent.

                                • Anonymous

It may sound great at first but is it worth losing the freedom of using 2 different rings? Overall it might make the character less specialized to deal with or take advantage of specific situations but on the other hand the stat bonuses are significant (it's almost like wearing 3 different rings in one slot) and make the player more versatile overall. It's quite a dilemma!

I wonder if this is an oversight, you can switch the ring between the first and second slot without breaking it but that realistically means taking it off one finger and placing it on the other which should break it

So I have may have ****ed up. I just started a new playthrough. As soon as I went to lordran, I went to blightown through the short cut to get the great club. Fast forward to me progressing normally and about to fight the bell gargoyles when I figured it should get the FAP ring. I thought since I started with the master key I don’t need to get the mystery key and I thought it would be funny if I just lock him in the room and lightsaberd the guy through the wall. I then killed him and realized oh crap I can’t open the door and get the items. So I tried to get the mystery key but died on the way there. Is the ring just gone forever or is there a way I can get it back without waiting till painted world?

Lol, nothing truly wrong with using this, but I'm glad I finally abstained from it in my current playthrough. It gave so much more room to experiment with different rings and switch around when necessary. It's just more fun for me that way. The loss of extra equip load hurts a little bit, but Havel's Ring covers that base for the most part.

My recommendation: Put off equipping this unless you're dead certain about the configuration of rings you want to use, or if you want to go really heavy without having to slow roll.

sry but havels plus the cartwheeling ring for me
this ring is major trap as you certainly have to switch rings in some major locations and if you have this on its gonna be a major handicap
plus the 20% hp and stamina not so great as most enemies tear right thru that measly one bar
leveling endurance covers for the stamina
all in all great ring early but dont be afraid of breaking it cause its not realy that op

It’s not bad, but i dislike how you can’t take it off. What if you’re a sorcerer build and need to have the Covenant of Artorias for 4 Kings? You may lose your damage boost just to enter the room, and that’s unfortunate. Same with the lava areas. I’m almost always a (Havel + Wolf) or (Bellowing + Dusk) pair myself

Oh this ring is evil! I want to get rid of it but I know I’ll need to do about 100 laps of Anor Londo to get my stats back to where they were with the damn thing!

GUYS I SIMPLY LOST MY RING OF FAVOR... I think maybe it's a bug, here is the thing, I went to sen's fortress to get the covetous gold serpent ring, and I had 10 humanity on my character and I didn't want to lose that cause I didn't have more left consumable, so I used the rare ring of sacrifice. Here is the weird part, I died (**** my life) and when I got back to the bonfire I did not lose the humanity or the souls but I lost the ring of favor and protection, it just vanished from my inventory. Does anyone knows what happened?

I easily killed him in like 5 hits while getting barely any damage and this is my first time playing. Hes not THAT hard to fight if you know what youre doing

                                                  • Anonymous

in my opinion this ring is a crutch for bad players. While i love using this ring too, i still would like having both the golden and silver snake rings equiped. Plus if your min maxing this ring messes it up !

if you kill him in his cell without opening the door it will drop inside the cell and prevent you from ever obtaining the ring because it will no longer allow you to open the door if you never talked to him at all. RIP my playthrough

There is a mis-match in the effect seen in game vs the description of the item, and an apparent compounded effect on Equip load (I assume that the game is raising your End to increase your stamina, which also increases your equip load naturally). My observation showed a total effect of +20% to HP, +17% to Stamina, +35% to Equip Load. Assuming this effective modification proves universally valid, The FaP ring is worth approx. equivalent to +XX Levels (+X Vit, +X End) For each Unmodified Base Class: (F/ Starting Base Stats, w/ 0 points added to Vit, w/ 0 points added to End) (Ranked by Order of Quality of Benefit) 1st) Bandit +14 Levels (+6 / +8) [Highest Stam / Highest Equip] 2nd) Knight +15 Levels (+6 / +9) [Highest HP] 3rd) Warrior +14 Levels (+6 / +8) 4th) Hunter +15 Levels (+6 / +9) 4th) Deprived +15 Levels (+6 / +9) Cleric +14 Levels (+6 / +8) Wanderer +14 Levels (+5 / +9) Pyromancer +14 Levels (+5 / +9) Sorcerer +14 Levels (+5 / +9) Thief +13 Levels (+5 / +8) I ran my approximation, using someone else's Stats Calculator at: validated only against my own Bandit Character in-game.

Just do what speedrunners do and kick him of the cliff and then quit and reload to make the ring appear where he was sitting.
