Ah, this ring. During my first my first playthrough, I didn't realize it existed until after I battled through Blighttown and reached the swamp and realized I could barely move. My gf checked a guide for me. Her: There's a ring you need. Me: OK, where is it? Her: Nowhere near here.

USES THIS RING STILL HAS AFTER BESTTOWN: Sen's Fortress Pit's; Dark Basin Hydra & Golden Golem; Chaos Eater pit/trap below Bed Of Cheese (Onion Knight quest area); Besttown Still for early (and later, poor mans) green and large tit farm, Pyro trainer, and future return attempts at keeper shard.
NOTE: Possible bug; sometimes negates Stone Giant force slow ability.

It's a shame that you'll probably hit up FPS Town before returning to the asylum. Really useful there.

The german Prepare to Die version lies about what this ring does.
"Erhöht Balance" - "increases poise"

I couldn't care less about people's griping about this great ring. The thing that is odd to me, is actually the item description. If the ring enhances movement on bad ground, why would it be used to "shackle the guilty?" Wouldn't it be more punishing to make them wear a ring that inhibited their movement?
