Straight Sword Hilt is a Weapon in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.
The hilt of this lost sword was found discarded in the Undead Asylum."
"Only slightly better than one's bare hands, and not recommended for extensive use. Be certain to find a replacement quickly."
How to Get / Where to Find the Straight Sword Hilt
- The weapon every newly created character starts with, equipped in right hand.
- Can only be obtained once per character, unless dropped by another player in co-op. It cannot be farmed, found on a corpse, or generated when starting a New Game plus.
Hints and Tips:
- Can be given to Kingseeker Frampt to receive 50 Souls.
- The lightest weapon of all Straight Swords, which has 1.0 weight compared to Broken Straight Sword's 2.0 weight. It also has less range and deals significantly less damage than the Broken Straight Sword.
- The best weapon while unupgraded to use if one were to practice parrying against various foes without killing them too fast, or at all.
- Can be upgraded to +10 and later ascended with the Soul of Sif to make the uncursed version of Greatsword of Artorias. Although, it is better to use the readily available Broken Straight Sword for that instead.

I think it's interesting to note that this weapon is likely a reference to the broken sword that Guts uses to chop his own arm off in Berserk. It's cut in the same spot, in the same unnatural way. They could have given you nothing, but instead gave you this.

Rating Based on Combat Usefulness
1/10
It may be a tad better then your bare hands but the upgrades and
the ParamBonus aren't the greatest at all its fast so its great at staggering smaller enemies
but that's all i can say about this weapon its broken Literally

I'm here to rate the Straight swords based on combat (Ex: Damage, Speed)
and Usefulness (Ex: Paramreq and Durability)
1/10
Although it might be slightly better then using your bare hands
I Wouldn't Recommend using this for a long drawn out fight
on the other hand its pretty fast making it easy to stagger lighter enemies
but that's where the "good" part of it ends its harder to stagger bigger enemies
since its just a hilt and considering its look it pretty durable.

It May be a tad better then your bare hands but the Upgrades and The ParamBonus aren't
that good at all it is a pretty fast weapon that uses little stamina so it can stagger small enemies but that about all the good it can get in reality.

Why is it better to use a broken straight sword to make Artorias's sword?
I'm just curious. I've no intention to actually make it.

This is by far, the greatest weapon in the entire game. If you aren't using it, there's something wrong with you.
Rating weapons based on looks:
Its just a broken sword, but the cut of the sword looks unnatural, like something cut it with a saw, still bad looking

Tried to use it and my character chopped off their own arm. I think they went a little overboard with the references

Saw a guy buff this with crystal magic weapon and power within and they were CLAPPING the 4 Kings it was hilarious.

Why does this tell you about the Demon's Souls version? It's not even the same game and has its own wiki??????

How much scaling does this get, exactly? I mean, it's so powerful that any scaling would be redundant, but just for the sake of curiosity.

Fists do the same damage and take less stamina per attack, so the flavour text is actually inaccurate.

Why “it is better to use the readily available Broken Straight Sword” to ascend to a Greatsword of Artorias??
