Wisp is an Enemy in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Enemies are hostile creatures that respawn when players rest at a Bonfire or upon death. Special enemies that do not respawn are classified as Bosses, Mini Bosses or Invaders

Wisp Information

A floating disembodied head that faintly glows red. When they get close enough to you they'll violently explode.

Drops

  • None

Attacks

  • Explosion - AoE explosion in proximity to the player.

Strategy

  • They are attracted to noise, so they will approach when you are fighting.
  • The Ring of Fog reduces their aggro range to almost zero.

Ensure you're not in any danger of falling off a ledge and try to get them to come to you. When they get close enough they'll start to shake and glow increasingly red. When you see this happening this is your cue to back off to a safe distance as quickly as possible, because they are about to explode.

Be warned, especially with the ones outside on the way to the dark moon ring, they will blow up skeletons in one shot, this is great and all but they aren't divine, the skeletons get right back up at full HP, this means it's a real bummer when you think you're all safe because all the skeletons are dead and suddenly there are 3 of them behind you...

This should also note that they are immune to attack, and that their attack deals only physical damage with a moderate amount of stamina drain if you block. As such, an effective strategy is to just tank their attacks as long as you won't get pushed off a ledge. Also, due to friendly fire they can be a great way to deal with other enemies as long as you can block or evade the blast yourself.
