Artorias of the Abyss is an expansion pack for Dark Souls, first made available as included in the PC version, Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition, on August 24 2012. This content adds a sideplot to the original Dark Souls story that sends the Chosen Undead back in time to Oolacile, chronicling the legend of the Abysswalker, Knight Artorias. New Locations, Enemies and Items are available, as well as an Arena Mode for more competitive Player versus Player online play. This expansion also serves as a new Patch, changing or fixing many elements of the console versions of Dark Souls.
See also: PTDE content and changes, concerning strictly the PC version for 2012.

It is worth noting that many elements of this expansion are cut content from before the development process of the original Dark Souls, as indicated by developer interviews and unused characters and enemies from official artwork appearing in this edition.

So I bought the expansion for DS1, downloaded and installed, but seems like nothing changed. How do I know its working?

If i started playing ds1 without the dlc and then i downloded it, will the aota things be in the run i started before the download? If no, is there a method to do it?

So... through all the ordeals of the DLC, we just save the weeping Dusk and return to Elizabeth to get told our deeds were important but meaningless? Don't get me wrong - I liked the shorter length (though the immediate proximities were sometimes unconvincing), and the boss fights and atmosphere were good, but unless I missed something, that's a pretty shallow, anticlimactic, and unsatisfactory ending. Like, we can't marry Dusk? Or at least learn why she wasn't corrupted? Or how she got trapped in a Gold Golem? There are literally no other survivors? Gough nonchalantly and eternally sits in a tower he could have never fit into in the first place? Sif, upon rescue, is unimportant except as an optional summon in the final fight? Ciaran appears abruptly then disappears without a trace? Marvelous Chester remains idly reclining against the cliff? The only piece of compelling content was the choice between giving Artorias's soul to Ciaran so she could properly lay him to "rest" or keeping it for ourselves (basically, your choice of either a great sword/souls or a curved sword & dagger). As Dark Souls is notorious for plot holes and poor resolutions (basically, go hollow, transform into a monster, or get incinerated - your preference - with little in-game justification for itself), I guess I shouldn't be disappointed, but I was hoping for more.

So I could be wrong but: I did a Darksouls 1 (Not Remasterd) Randomizer Run, and I found the Guardian Soul. But I don't have the DLC. Why?

For those of you looking to figure out how to get to the DLC, it's easy. First head to firelink and perform the path of the dragon gesture three times. Go to your fridge and grab a juice box. Attack Snuggly with a thrusting sword from behind, make sure to hit dead center. Leave a message there that says "try but hole". After 7 positive ratings, summon the wizard of Deesnats. Congrats you've made it.
