Bonewheel Shield is a shield in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.

"Can be used as a great shield, only for the great gaps. But at least the spikes turn into weapons with a good spin. Strange indeed!"
Acquired from:
- Drops from Wheel Skeletons (2% chance - The Catacombs and Painted World of Ariamis)
- Video Location Timestamp 25:12
Hints and Tips:
- Recommended to go for Lightning upgrade path, it gives 200 Physical and 200 Lightning damage, as oppose to 200 + D Strength Scaling for Normal path or 192 Physical and 192 Fire for Fire path.

Strange… the heavy attack seems to do more damage when held with one hand, rather than two hands. It’s generally the opposite for most weapons.
Any reason for why that is?

Just doing a shield only playthrough with them, got one in first 30 mins of playthrough thanks to Leeroy. All I have to say, its amazing for this type of challenge run.

Lethal joke weapon of the game. Use it to punish turtle happy enemies, and hopefully make them s**t themselves. It's hilarious at breaking guards, and the elemental damage and 3-hit R2's only make it hurt that much worse on block, even in the left hand.

The bone wheel shield is a decent shield offensively. It's capable of hitting multiple times per attack. Lightning is recommended for the overall damage and dealing with enemies that are weak against lightning. However defensively, it's far inferior to other great shields in terms of stats. Its stats are mediocre unless if you get it to +5 lightning which gives it a decent amount of lightning. So in terms of defense, it's the worst out of all the great shields, offensively, it's fun to use.

The day I kill the Lord of Sunlight with a wheel is the day I can no longer take this game seriously.

Ive found out more that the shield is good for besides what I stated in the last comment. The shield can't be parried, so if you're not a spellcaster, this is a good stand-in to make a safe attack against Parry enemies. Also, this shield's attack can't accidentally hit the wall and mess you up, no matter how close to the wall you are, so if you're in a tight spot where you can't use a regular weapon, this is a great alternative. If I find out more I'll make another comment. sorry if the stuff Ive said is obvious btw
The shield's damage is strike even though it's a spin attack type thing, and it hits three times every time you bash with it, giving it more damage(obviously) and more importantly, increasing the amount of time that you're shield is in the block state that comes with using a bash shield. What all of this means is that this is a pretty perfect counter to enemies with high poise that hit slowly and hard, like the stone guardians, the knights after the grave of artorias door, the berenike knights (I know I spelled it wrong), crystal golems, and other enemies. If you time the bash well, you can take basically no damage from the enemy's attack, do a larger amount of damage then you'd originally think due to the unique attack, and most likely stagger the enemy, either due to the three attacks, or the shield deflecting the weapon. Just some info on what situations this shield is best for.

It’s a decent shield, 90% physical block, although 66 stability could be better, and lightning +5 ascension makes it one of the better lightning shields in the game... Halloween Cosplay with Darkwraith armor is on point

Can someone add how it works? What is it’s move set? Does it make you roll? Is it actually viable as a shield or as a weapon?
