Covenant of Artorias

This ring symbolizes Knight Artorias's covenant with the beasts of the Abyss.
Its wearer, like Artorias himself can traverse the Abyss.

Covenant of Artorias is a Ring in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Players can equip up to 2 Rings, but equipping two of the same item is not possible.

Notes

  • This ring is removed in New Game Plus. So you have to kill Sif in each playthrough to get this ring and be able to fight The Four Kings.
  • If the ring is removed while in the Abyss, and the Four Kings are undefeated, the player will die.
  • This ring is required too when you're helping someone as a white phantom to fight the Four Kings. Not wearing it will cause you to die.
  • The ring is not needed, when entering the Abyss, after the Four Kings are defeated.
  • If this item is dropped, it will reappear in the chest in Firelink Shrine.
  • This item can not be traded, since it will not appear to the other player(s) if dropped.

Application

  • Ring provides no other bonuses

well that's a dirty bullspit dirty frigging trick! the game offers absolutely no clue that you need a special ring to fight the boss, and yet, it still "allows" you to pass through the fog gate and then once you do, you get softlocked. the only way out is death. it disables the homeward bone, doesn't let you pass back through and the way down is only death.
every single other challenge in this game was "fair", but this one is completely bullcrap.

on second thought, i do have a ring of sacrifice, so i won't have to leave all my souls and humanity behind, but still . .

Do I need the ring to do the Dlc?
Cause I want to try to kill Sif just after I rescued him in the dcl's Abyss

I'm a bit confused. They call him Artorias the Abysswalker but which abyss is it: the one where you fight manus or the one where you fight the four kings?

This is just a theory but I see people say artorias is a traitor for making the covenant but it think I might know why or how he did it
Artorias made a deal with the beasts of the abyss perhaps a certain serpent who is a deceiver was the one who let him it may have been seen as a good guess by artorias that there were good beings in the abyss and the darkness but remember he is the leader of the darkwraiths so it may have been this servants attempt at getting rid of the knight who was killing his wraiths I’m not saying he controls manus but he may have told artorias of him and never mentioned manus was the father of the abyss

I'm playing NG+ on Switch and I had my ring and killed the four kings, became a darkwraith, but now I don't have the ring anymore? It's not spawning at firelink either. I doubled back to sifs boss area and it isn't there either?
