Estoc is a Weapon in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.
The largest of the thrusting swords. Can pierce an armored knight in one thrust."
"The blade is also sharp, allowing slicing as well."
How to Get / Where to Find the Estoc
- Corpse in the lower section of Firelink Shrine, along the path towards New Londo Ruins.
- Video Location Timestamp 1:11
Notes:
- Give to Frampt to receive 50 souls.
- Like all piercing swords, replaces your kick with a back-stepping horizontal slash.
- The Estoc, like most piercing swords has the unique feature of allowing users to strike while still behind their shield, which gives enemies no chance to strike while your guard is down. While this attack doesn't deal large amounts of damage, it can, over time, whittle away the health of an enemy. In the hands of a patient player, the Estoc can be one of the most deadly weapons in the game. Enemies that take continuous damage from an Estoc, especially one wielded by a fast, mobile opponent, may open up more and rush their attacks, leaving them wide open.
- The advantage of the Estoc over other piercing swords is the long reach. It has the longest reach of all piercing swords, and the one-handed r2 performs a sweep attack, and the two-handed r2 a long-ranged thrust. The Estoc also deals the most physical damage out of all piercing swords, assuming high dexterity.
- The charging attack produces a double stab, which connect individually.
- Demon's souls version: Different in apperance but similar in move set.

To not fault of it's own I really hate this weapon. I never used a piercing sword so I didn't even realize it was a separate cathegory. At the end of my second playthrough I prep everything up for the Knight's Honor trophy, leaving the cursed SoA for last. I make a V line for Sif, bring down every boss I need to get to Anor Londo, find out at the giant blacksmith my mistake...so I take down O&S a 3rd time for warping and I ****ing realize I need the large ember again...so I had to deal with the most BS boss of this game for a 3rd time, the capra demon and his ****ing dogs on his studio apartment closet.
I realize this is available right away but this weapon is objectively terrible. For nearly the same stats you can get the winged spear for better damage for it’s speed. I tried using this in a dex build with my friend and we couldn’t get past quelaag at sl30 because my damage wasn’t even worth the aggro. DO NOT USE THIS WEAPON

Estoc is a good weapon but at least it has weak damages and a really basic move set so it can be parry very easily

Why is the Estoc shown in-game as being able to turn into the Dragonslayer Spear, despite definitely not being able to?

This weapon had the chance to be amazing. Unfortunately, completely foiled by the worst lag ever. While I recall the fast low damage attacks from this in Dark Souls 3, could be snuck in between casts of spell casters, or strikes of heavy weapons... with this lag you will almost never get your spacing, and even an attack outside the range of both you and your opponent's weapons will get you punished with with a backstab.
Estoc is the best rapier. Varied move set, buffable, great range, and can be acquired the second you reach fire link shrine.
Rapier suffers from lower range and just thrust moves with no flare to it. You also have to either farm or buy it. Simply Outclassed.
Mail Breaker is odd. Has very short range and an R2 that can stun some enemies but overall is outclassed by other rapiers. Is acquired early game after beating 2 bosses but you would already be using an estoc sooo....
Velka's Rapier is very cool, has good range, and is great for god slaying due to it being an occult weapon but it's R2's aren't ideal at crowd clearing mobs and it suffers from split damage. Worse of all however is having to wait until late game to acquire it. Losses some of its effectiveness in some late-game areas as well.
Ricards's Rapier is basically an upgraded standard rapier. Has better range with chain attack R2's. Great for boss killing as you can do a lot of damage really fast but bad for PvP as every parry spammer's wet dream is seeing this thing. Very predictable and suffers from a standard moveset. Also, it's locked behind sen's fortress.
TL;DR = Just use an Estoc.
