Eye Of Death

2087.png

Online play item. Lure phantoms from other worlds. (Only Covenanter can use this item while Hollows cannot)
The dreadful Eyes of Death spread disaster across neighboring worlds. Phantoms lured to the host world may end up as victims, allowing the Eyes of Death to multiply, and leading to further proliferation of bane.

Eye Of Death is a Multiplayer Item in Dark Souls.

Eye Of Death Usage

  • The Eyes of Death are used to level up in the Gravelord Servant Covenant.
  • They are also used to put signs on the ground, which will send Black Phantoms into 3 random players worlds. The players can then search for the sign and invade the gravelord. If the invaders are defeated, the gravelord gains additional Eyes of Death. Level range is +/- 10% of the host's level + 10 levels.
  • A black aura appears around the player, indicating the Eye of Death is active.
  • You can't fight any bosses while the Eye of Death is active, but you can walk between areas freely.
  • The effect is removed when you die, or quit and reload the game as well as being summoned, invading via cracked orbs or using homebound or homeward bones.
  • The player can only visit Nito if they have one or more Eye(s) of Death in their inventory.
  • For further info about the requirements and effects of the Eye of Death, see the Gravelord Servant page.

Great farming spot for offline players. Need either homeward (miracle) or a good stack of homeward bones. From first bonfire in the Great Hollow, drop down off the ledge right next to the bonfire, to the right of the root path. This will land you on a root further down. Drop off this root on the left side. Drop off the next root on the right side. This puts you on a platform with 3 basilisks. Takes about 5-10 seconds to get to them from the fire. Going back up isn't too bad but homeward speeds it up substantially.

Wear princess peach (dusk) dress and you can fight basilisks even with 0 humanity and don't mind the curse.

When you wonder why the heck developers put name of some death metal band on the ground and then you realize it's just gravelord servant sign...

What's the point of Patches only selling them after you kill Nito? Am I missing something? If Nito is death you can't interact with the covenant anymore

I believe this item may be thematically tied to the Ring of the Evil Eye. I have comments on that page explaining my thought process, but basically I believe the Evil Eye to represent envy, and malicious intent due to envy. The basilisks are related to this envy, and may even be related to the "dark beast that assaulted Astora". Think about it; why would these basilisks have enormous false eyes, unless it was symbolic? They glare at you with envious evil eyes, and (literally) curse you. This is the Evil Eye mentioned in the ring's description!

What you expect from Darklord Servant when invading his world:
Dark themed and evil looking shady character wielding Gravelord Sword and using Gravelord Sword Dance Miracles.

                What you get:
Half-naked dude with small pointy weapon, ninja flip ring and hornet ring who jumps around and spams broken backstabs from ridiculous angles.

Not a bad grind at all, got 7 in about fifteen minutes with gold ring and the Symbol of Avarice and no humanity running around the depths.
