Gargoyle Tail Axe is a Weapon in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.
Sliced tail of the gargoyle guarding the Bell of Awakening in the Undead Church or patrolling in Anor Londo.
Can be used as a bronze battle axe. Bends dramatically during large attacks, owing to its nature as a tail."
How to Get / Where to Find the Gargoyle Tail Axe
Dropped by cutting off the tail of any gargoyle (Undead Parish, Anor Londo)
Notes:
- Give to Frampt to receive 50 souls.
- Special: This axe increases Bleeding, Poison and Toxin resistance x2. (inventory screen = x4, but equipped = x2) causing the illusion that you get poisoned and bled when you equip it.
- Its shaft also bends on heavy attacks.
- If your attack doesn't connect with anything, there will be a slight lag at the end of the attack, similar to halberd weapons.
- Upgrading the weapon does not increase its Bleed, Poison, and Toxin resistance. The reason the player sees the Bleed, Poison, and Toxin meters when upgrading is because you technically are unequipping and re-equipping the weapon each time you upgrade.
- Poison and Toxin resistance make this weapon a good choice in Blighttown.

When I use crystal magic weapon on this and do a heavy attack, the crystals don’t move with the axehead, but act like they would on a normal non-bendy axe. Weird

Would anyone be willing to part with this weapon? I am just starting my play through and I somehow managed to walk through the gargoyles and completely forgot to cut the tail off… I was planning on using it. If anyone wouldn’t mind my PSN is markplays2. I would really appreciate it.

"Upgrading the weapon increases its Bleed, Poison and Toxin resistance. (needs confirmation)"
Welp I can tell you this is False. I have viewed my perks with just holding the axe before and after upgrading it. It's resistance boost does not change no matter how many times you upgrade. The only reason the illusion of being poisoned and such happens right after upgrading it (while still having said axe equipped) is because technically you have just equipped a new weapon or version of said weapon

is it just me or are most weapons in dark souls kinda mediocre sry if im wrong i am a new begginer and idk why the only weapon i feel like i got a good one is zweihander
If you don't manage to get it from the Bell Gargoyles, will it be a guaranteed drop from the gargoyle in Anor Londo?

how tf is this better as a dex weapon than as a strength weapon, considering axes normally have much higher strength scaling / requirements.

This weapon is actually quite good. It has solid reach, decent damage (especially if infused with lightning) relatively low stat requirements and it doubles your resistances! What's not to love?
The raw scaling on the wiki are wrong, strength gets an E and dex gets a C so personally I would make it raw because the scaling is still ok
