"Greatshield made of bronze and marcasite. Used by the giant sentinels of Anor Londo.
Marcasite, or white iron, is effective against non-physical damage, but as the shield is designed for the giant sentineles, its weight is unbearable."
Acquired from:
- Buy from the Giant Blacksmith for 10,000 souls.
- Drops from Sentinel (1% chance - Anor Londo)
- and
- Drops from Royal Sentinel (1% chance - Anor Londo)

For PvE it's a solid choice. You can use it anywhere and tank hits, physical or not, like nobodies business. Those Oolacile Sorcerers can barely hurt you, even with a point-blank Dark Bead!
For PvP its usefulness is very niche, that weight is horrendous and holding it up constantly is just begging for backstab fishing. What you can do is use a light main weapon like a Hand Axe on a Strength build so you can fast roll with it, along with a Small Leather Shield to swap to for Parrying. Just swap to this big shield when you have to close the gap between spell spammers or when you feel you just NEED to hard block something, then swap back to your tiny shield for anything else. Your dps will be kind of low but you'll have a strong defense and mobility to make up for it.

This shield is even more the "the villain when you face them vs when they join your party" than actual villains. Like, in Anor Londo they have total and complete immunity against anything that hits them, be it spells, pyromancies, even when you chuck yo mama at them they can stop her! But put it on and it will still allow fire, magic and miracle damage, andd worst of all it will not even block yo mama anymore!

i really like this thing, it works well with the giant set (i use giant set on most playthroughs for the defense) and its basically a lighter version of Havels greatshield with one saving grace, it doesnt have that stupid buff thing that you misclick and destroy the shields durability

Is the above description talking about the shield being made out of the mineral marcasite? If so marcasite is known to rust metal it touches. Kinda screwed, here have a shield undead giant, don't worry it should last you the next ten years then look hideous lol.

What's the point of having this over artorias greatshield?
This thing is pretty weak if you ask me. If it had, like, 100% all resistances with maybe less stability, it would have it's place.
