Greataxe is a Weapon in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.
This greataxe is a veritable mass of iron. Its weight sends foes flying, but makes it difficult to handle without inhuman strength."
"Any miss makes one very vulnerable, as each swing requires the full force of the body."
How to Get / Where to Find the Greataxe
- Can be found in the Depths (in a box behind 5 rats near the bonfire).
- Sold by Crestfallen Merchant for 8000 souls.
- Rare drop from the Berenike Knights.
- Video Location Timestamp 5:36
Notes:
- Give to Frampt to receive 50 souls.
- The lightest of Great Axes.
- Greataxe +15 has a base physical damage of 350, which is the highest reachable through Regular Upgrades.
- Lightning Greataxe +5 has a staggering damage output of 700, bigger than Lightning Great Club +5 (674) and Lightning Zweihander +5 (650). However, its minimal reach and mediocre moveset make it not worth all the Titanite Chunks.
- Chaos Greataxe +5 with 10 Humanities has a devastating 729 Attack Rating, and the minimum strength to two-hand it is barely 22, making it fully capable of decimating most of the enemies in one to two hits.
- Special: Two-handed R2 causes knockdown

This weapon is like my coc, the part where you put your hands is a little bit small. But the base is packing

I really like this thing. Only complaint is the boring moveset.

after some research this is the best weapon for chaos/fire infusion because it has the highest fire/chaos damage of any weapon. (but Zwei is very good because of its range and good damage plus a simple usable moveset)

This oversized maul has a special place in my heart. The high base damage, reasonable weight and lower stat requirements make this a great option for Strength builds. At 22 Strength two hand it and make it Chaos or Lightning, then kill everything. Otherwise always go +15/Crystal if you can one hand it.
Also don't trust whoever wrote that the moveset was mediocre, it's underrated. The 1H R1 can combo into a backstab on hit stun. The R2's are slower but can throw people off with good timing and punish mistakes hard. Otherwise it has all the normal Greataxe pros for less stat investment so this weapon is more than worth your Titanite Chunks.

random question, can you parry this things R2 in pvp? I think I was having a latency problem but I swear I hit like 4 parries against this thing and it just tanked through it, this was with a +5 silver knight shield if that matters (yeah I know I'm a try hard)

Never understood what an appeal of such weapons in souls. Literally 2 attacks that dont even chain into each other. Both boring in pve and predictable in pvp. I'd rather use cheap bastard sword that has million movesets

To 2h this axe you only need 22 STR, and you can get it +5 Lightning by the time you reach Anor Londo. 700 ATK non-buffed with only 22 STR isnt that shabby.

I hope that I am not the only real only strength user in this game I suck at dexterity and I one of my account is a giant dad so every strength weapons is the best for weapons for me!!! And I level up to min 5 every normal strength I have!!
Chaos Greataxe +5 with 10 Humanities can reach 729 AR, more than Chaos Demon Greataxe's 595 AR.

The scaling is wrong when you click on the regular upgrade path the strength scaling on +15 says C instead of B

Prefer this over the Demon Greataxe purely cause this one is way more fashionable, sure the Demon Greataxe can be very powerful and has the highest raw physical damage potential in the game, but it's ugly as hell and just looks like an oversized dog/animal bone that's been chewed on a bunch and doesn't even have a blade, this weapon actually looks good aesthetically and is an actual Greataxe instead of a giant chewed-up femur pretending to be one
