Havel's Ring is a Ring in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Players can equip up to 2 Rings, but equipping two of the same item is not possible.
Effects
- Boosts maximum equip load by 50%.
Location
- Obtained after defeating Havel The Rock in the shortcut between Undead Burg and Darkroot Basin, that can be accessed with either Master key or Watchtower Basement Key.
Application
- This ring is a fantastic way to provide more defense for your character without the fear of a slower movement speed. Because its augmentation is percentage based this ring becomes more beneficial when the wearer has more stamina.
- Weapons in the ultra-large category usually weigh above 10 units, the heaviest weighing 28; so wearing this ring can help users of large weapons to be faster.
- Equipping Havel's ring changes max equipment load to 1.5 x base max equipment load. (+50%)
- Equipping Havel's ring and the Ring of Favor and Protection changes equipment load to 1.8 x base equipment load. (+80%)
- Equipping Havel's ring and the Ring of Favor and Protection and the Mask of the Father changes equipment load to 1.89 x base equipment load. (+89%)
Notes
- Killing Havel at the same time he kills you will cause the ring to go away.
- Patch 1.06 nerfed Mask of the Father from 15% to 5%, which reduced the max equip increase from 2.07 to 1.89 x base equipment load. (from +107% to +89% after patch 1.06)

Havel fell off an edge is there a way to get the ring still?

Just wanna question how FAP and Havel’s give plus 80% when Havel’s gives 50% and FAP 20%…
That adds up to 70% or 1.7x base equip load. Unless they give bonuses when paired with each other.

Man, i just started ds remastered after ds3, and gotta say, the shortcuts are done way better in the remastered. Love the game so far. Just killed havel and can finaly wield my zweihander without fatrolling. And btw for all souls games STR is easy mode

The most important ring in the game imo and this is my first run

This ring is bae. Puts the game on easy mode. Made a build putting equal points in vitality, endurance, and strength with an ultra great sword, great axe, or great hammer. I was able to out trade and stunlock pretty much everything in pve with a single heavy or running attack at every level with the highest poise armor I could equip.. PvP though, leaves a bit to be desired with so many lightly armored, speedy, little backstab fishers running about with their little hornet ring on, taking advantage of lag at every turn...
Killed havel using the old door trick in Dark Root Basin at the bottom of the tower. Never got the ring. So not sure why?

What rings U got bich? It's kind of a bummer they nerfed the father mask so heavily actually. Havels ring is probably less iconic then the father mask. But still, THE LEGEND NEVER DIES.

Edit needed: if you kill Havel before opening the door (I used Demon's Great Hammer jump attacks which were long enough to aggro; after that he kinda just runs at the door), and then go to get the key, the ring won't be there.

2 ways to get Havel's ring if we have weak char and can die from his single attack:
1. (Longer and requires some stuff but easier to pull off)
- Open doors to his tower from Darkroot arena
- Cast Toxic Mist, Poison Mist or Dark Fog without entering so the cloud will stay just behind doors (you can also throw Dung Pies)
- Repeat until Havel dies
2. (Faster and can be made with newly created character)
- Enter his tower any way you like
- Run around him to avoid getting hit and punish his slow attacks with backstabs
- You can also parry/riposte him but one mistake and you are dead so backstabs are much safer
