"This medium metal shield is elegantly carved and painted."
"Although it is thought to have been used by ancient knights of nobility, its defense and capabilities are similar to other shields."
Acquired from:
- On a corpse in the Undead Parish just past the Fog Gate. Guarded by an Balder Knight.
- Video Location Timestamp 4:33
- Video Location Timestamp 4:30
- Crystal Knight Shield can be found in one of the Mimics at the Duke's Archive, at the upper floor of the library.
Hints and Tips:
- It can be the first 100% damage reduction shield you'll run across in the open. The other option is the Dragon Crest Shield if one were go below the Firelink Shrine, to the New Londo Ruins area, and use the Master Key to open the gated elevator that leads up to the Valley of Drakes.
- Looks fancy, but is typically known as a "Newbie trap" because the Hollow Soldier Shield and Kite Shields sold by Blacksmith Andre are better in every way, including Weight, Resistances and Stability.
- It has higher AR (Attack Rating) than the Kite Shields.

Never really used this shield because its objectively worse than other 100% physical block shields which is a shame because I really like the way it looks. Wish it came back with the same look in the other games

"BUT THIS SHIELD HAS 1 MORE STABILITY"
"BUT THIS SHIELD HAS 0.1 LESS WEIGHT"
Doesn't matter. It's a basic medium-sized 100% block shield. They are all roughly the same. If you happen to think it looks the coolest, just use it. Keep that MMO autism out of Dark Souls ;^)

Damn, I was thinking in using it, didn't't know there was better shields, I don't really know how shield works.

This table says that regular +10 shield should have 67 stability. But mine +10 regular shield has 72 stability. Why is that?

Best early game weapon for a Shield-only run. It has the best AR out of all the shields you can easily grab with the Master Key. Only the Black Knight Shield compares, and you need luck to get that. Get the Knight Shield to +5 then run through the Catacombs and farm a Bonewheel Shield. The extra AR and good stability makes a huge difference when farming them at 20+ Strength. The rest is smooth sailing for the run.
It also works great on killing weaker aggressive crowds like Hollows, Undead Attack Dogs and Giant Rats. Spiked and Pierce Shield have a harder time against multiple targets and Bonewheel is slow against them all, giving the Knight Shield a small niche.
Otherwise it's outclassed in every way but fashion.

Do Crystal weapons push up item discovery like magic weapons?

I dont care that it sucks, it looks awesome and it gets the job done.
The Knight shield is one of the worst shields in DSR. In theory, Its a good early game shield with usable amount of fire, ok stability and it's easy to get. However in practice, there's other shields like the heater shield that did way better than the Knight shield. The heater shield is lighter, has more fire reduction and it has a faster parry timing. The heater shield is also obtain earlier than the Knight shield. The Knight shield is heavy, has subpar stats and it's not good enough to be a fire shield since it's fire reduction is 60. Don't use this at any serious build.

In term of stats and weight, it is bad compared to other lighter shield. But... Screw this, Fashion Souls.
This shield is garbage, you're much better off buying a Heater Shield from the merchant instead of using this, if you don't have any options.

I haven't seen anyone anywhere making this note, but the shield seems to be a reference to Edward the Black Prince's shield, of England.
