Morning Star is a Weapon in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.
Hammer with a sharp spike on its pommel. One of the more barbaric cleric weapons.
Uniquely, this hammer inflicts thrust damage, and causes bleeding."
How to Get / Where to Find the Morning Star
- Firelink Shrine, in a chest found in the area you can reach by dropping from the ledge you find by following the stairs that is facing Petrus.
- Video Location Timestamp 0:56
Notes
- Give to Frampt to receive 50 souls.
- The description lies. It doesn't inflict thrust damage at all.
- A godsend for repelling skeletons early on in the graveyard. The R2 attack scatters them all over the place, letting you stunlock stragglers.
- Bleed build up is 33 per strike, and once inflicted will tear 30% of the opponents HP.
- Demon's souls version: Has similar apperance but has a different move set.

Late to the party, but this being an early weapon that only requires 11 str and bleeds is fantastic. Three hits to bleed Stray Demon allowing easy early souls and a slab for whenever.

I will always wonder why the reinforced club is better than the morning star (AR and R2), like the wooden stick wins face to the metal stick...is it a kind of dev joke ? or because the durability is weaker with the club...

I believe the scaling under the normal upgrade path is wrong.

dang, the A scaling and not too bad base damage are making me consider taking this up for a main weapon especially since it has bleed and good poise damage. what do you guys think for a fast rolling strength build?

Some of the most important facets of this weapon in the early game are its poise damage and bleed effect. I got all the way through Blighttown and Demon Ruins as a new character using an un-upgraded morning star (I wanted to get the large flame ember early) and took out the Capra & Taurus demons through a combination of bleeding them and interrupting their attacks with staggers from my two-handed attacks. It's certainly not a newbie-friendly route, but it's a fun challenge.

it is a good weapon at the beginning and is very useful against the undead
and is also a good starting weapon

This is a pretty good weapon. Even if the base damage isn't that great, even at +15, you gotta admit the bleeding effects make this a good mace, epsically since you can pick it up immediately after leaving the Asylum.

Does this weapon affect multiplier like summoning and invasions??
- Anonymous
The fact that this weapon swings from the same direction each time ruins it for me. Could of been such a good weapon if it weren't for that.
Available immediately. If you chose the master key, use this to farm drakes in the valley for 1000 souls each. 1hR2 staggers a drake in 2 hits, learn to circle strafe and stunlock for quick kills.
