Regular Upgrades are performed by Andre of Astora at the Undead Parish.
Regular +6 requires a regular +5 weapon and to hand in the Large Ember. Regular +11 requires a regular +10 weapon and to hand in the Very Large Ember.

Dexterity to increase your AR.

best lance, strong attack as a glaive, and common attack as a spear letting counter with shield up, i use partizan +15 and works, with a cap of 70 dex

Text for item says that it can be found under the tree w/ the two headed snake. However, in my current playthrough I've found the two headed snake but there isn't a body by it. I don't know if the body not being there is because of something I did/missed or if the item might have been taken care of in patch.
Best spear? Probably. Most fun? Definitely.
