Notes About This Class

  • Despite beginning at level 1, this class is among the stronger starting options in the game due to its early access to pyromancy and good general stat distribution. As long as you intend to have at least a little Attunement for your pyromancies, this class can do anything that doesn't involve Faith, and can do it well.
  • Keep in mind that even though the Pyromancy Flame may say it scales with Intelligence, pyromancy spell damage does not actually scale with Intelligence, or any stat at all for that matter. That's only for its melee punch attack, which you shouldn't be using over other weapons or even Combustion anyways. The best you can do to improve your pyromancy is raising Dexterity to increase your casting speed


Builds That Use This Class

  • The Pyromancer is best for builds that use either Strength or Dexterity while still having just a little Attunement for pyromancies. It isn't unique in this however, since the Wanderer and Sorcerer can both pull off the exact same builds at the exact same levels. The most common such build uses 50 Vitality, 16 Attunement, 40 Endurance, 16 Strength, and 45 Dexterity, with the extra 5 Dexterity over 40 being for casting speed. The Pyromancer can also use 40 Strength instead of 45 Dexterity, but the loss in casting speed is often not worth using a completely different group of weapons for.
  • While rare and largely pointless, the Pyromancer does have just the right stats to cast abyssal sorceries using minimal Intelligence and only physical scaling with the Demon's Catalyst, Tin Banishment Catalyst, or Manus Catalyst. With 45 Dexterity and 16 Intelligence, a Tin Banishment Catalyst will deal an unexpectedly high amount of damage with dark sorceries, though not as much as a normal Sorcerer or Dex/Int hybrid would. The only reason this is an option at all is because the standard Pyromancer build can afford the few extra levels in Intelligence, since pyromancy has such low requirements as it is. If the above build were to raise Intelligence to 16 without increasing anything else, it would be level 120.
