Pyromancy Flame is a Weapon in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.

Flame medium used by Great Swamp pyromancers. Pyromancers arouse this flame to produce various fire arts. Equip pyromancer flame to produce pyromancy. Attune pyromancies from a scroll at bonfire. Most pyromancies have limited number of uses."
After upgrading: "Pyromancy flame drawing upon the latent power of Quelana of Izalith, mother of pyromancy. For the pyromancer, a flame is a precious thing indeed, to be nurtured, often for an entire lifetime. When the flame is shared, it creates an eternal bond between the parties."

How to Get / Where to Find the Pyromancy Flame

  • Starting equipment for the Pyromancer.
  • Obtained by other classes after rescuing Laurentius of the Great Swamp from the Depths.
  • Also obtainable for all classes through the "Talk" option from Eingyi after having spoken to him while infected with egghead. If you have less than 11 Int Eingyi will not offer you the flame.

Notes

  • After you reach +10, you will be able to talk to Quelana of Izalith in Blighttown (Swamp), who can ascend a +15 Pyromancy Flame.
  • Your pyromancies will NOT become more powerful with increased intelligence. Damage only increases with Upgrades. The intelligence stat also does not affect the punch. The displayed scaling exists merely as a result of a parameter necessary to set the Pyromancy Flame's damage output, it shares its scaling behavior with the Thorolund Talisman and Oolacile Ivory Catalyst, meaning it reaches a hard-cap below minimum intelligence.
  • Give to Frampt to receive 50 souls.
  • An unupgraded version can be given to Snuggly for a Red Titanite Chunk, an ascendend one for a Red Titanite Slab.

Pyromancy Flame Upgrade Table

Upgrade: up to +15, with Laurentius at Firelink Shrine after rescuing him in the depths, or Eingyi, as a member of the Chaos Servant Covenant, then ascended to +5 with Quelana (see this page)

It takes 149,500 souls to upgrade the first path (Pyromancy Flame+15) and another 191,000 for the second path ("Ascended" Pyromancy Flame+5)
It takes 340,500 souls to fully upgrade all 21 levels of the Pyromancy Flame. For comparison's sake, this is enough souls to gain 55 Soul Levels (starting at SL 1).

man I killed Laurentius on accident and also killed Eingyi on sight since I thought he'd attack me, so I guess no pyromancy

      • Anonymous

but like how do I upgrade it, like do I go into reinforce weapon when I sit down in front of a bonfire or something else

        • Anonymous

Well shucks, on my first run rn, wanted to know how to upgrade this and now I found out that I'm stuck :)))
Laurentius is gone, and I killed Eingy because I didn't know he wasn't hostile.

As others have stated, 11 int is the requirement to get the pyro flame from Eingyi, not 12 int as this page states.

            • Anonymous

"If you have less than 12 Int Eingyi will not offer you the flame." This is incorrect. 11 intelligence is the minimum, after getting egged, to get the pyro flame.

Does the pyro flame's upgrade count towards matchmaking?

I only ask because of the fact that it has 21 upgrades, unlike everything else.

                • Anonymous

so if upgrading the pyromancy flame only increases the fist attack, do you only do it so you can cast better pyro spells?

ahhh pyromancies, deal a truckton of damage and have a wide variety (plus oddballs fun to use like undead rapport) i generally do lightning weapons with a pyromancer build whereas i use fire/chaos for any other build (whats the point to just fire damage) so i can deal phys fire and lightning damage and just smash through the game

Be quiet when you have nothing to say. But if you feel real passion in you, then say what you have to say. But say it with fire!

It should be noted that upgrading the flame affects weapon match making. If you plan to PVP or co-op, keep the flame at the same level as your highest weapon. Going all the way to 15 too early in the game will severely limit online play. You're pretty safe to do it at Anor Londo or further.

The pyromancy dude is gone after showing him chaos flame and i killed the creepy guy next to the girl who gives chaos flame, so where do I to upgrade my pyromancy flame go?

why is it that i bought a pyromancy flame from laurentius, upgraded it to +11 before he left due to Quelaggs defeat and Quelana didnt spawn. Anyone know why?

Isn't it "After you reach +10, talk to Quelana of Izalith in Blighttown (Swamp) to ascend the flame." +15?

                                      • Anonymous

Kind of ironic. With a Pyromancy Flame you can conjure up huge fireballs and mighty firestorms, but not in the least light up the Tomb of Giants ...

                                        • Anonymous

In the "notes" section it says you can ascend after reaching +10, but then later it says it must be +15...
Is this just an error, or is there some criteria to get it ascended as early as level 10?

Beautiful. I accidentally hit the pyromancer in Firelink Shrine, and I killed the eggbacked dude in front of the Daughter of Chaos. Now, I'm stuck with a +9 Pyromancy Flame. God. ****it.

                                            • Anonymous

for the sake of clarity: Int affects the damage of the (rather weak) "strike" attack (punch) you can do with the flame. that is the int scaling that is all int does for this 'weapon'. in the original dark souls there is a requirement of 4 strength to use the pyromancy flame effectively, however neither str nor dex have any bearing, if however they apply in the remastered version both will only effect the impact of the strike. Casting speeds for spells can be influenced by dex, supposedly from 35-45 dex it becomes a noticeable difference; this is notable but not a "scaling" for the weapon it's self. damage of pyromancies in the first dark souls is unchanged by int, faith, dex, attunement, and every other stat. The singular determinant for pyromancy strength is the magic adjustment stat of the flame - something increased as you level it up and modify it into it's more powerful form. that said the bellowing dragoncrest ring can increase damage & the lingering dragoncrest ring i believe can influence some buffsdurations such as flash sweat. with my pyromancy flame at +11 my magic adjust is 209 which surpasses the adjustment of any talismans/catalysts i've come across so far. (with an int of 27)

The INT requirement to get Engyi's flame is 11, not 12. You still need to have joined the covenant and have the egg parasites

I had a +15 Flame and was trying to upgrade it any further but instead i mistaked and downgraded it obviously to level 0. Can anyone help me.

Am I correct in assuming that upgrading this in the remastered version is the same as upgrading any weapon im terms of matchmakimg

                                                    • Anonymous

"If you have less than 12 Int Eingyi will not offer you the flame." That is not true. I receive it even i have only 11 Int.

                                                      • Anonymous

How does scaling work here? Do you need to level stats to make your pyromancies stronger or do you only have to level the flame itself?
