Giant Blacksmith. Ascend any +10 Curved Sword or Curved Greatsword with Quelaag's Soul.

Notes:

  • Give to Frampt to receive 5000 souls.
  • Special: This sword also gets additional damage from your held humanity, max at 10 humanity.

If you equip Quelaag furysword and wearing Good hemmed black hood + dark wraith armor + gauntlet + legging.
You can cosplay as ringed knight from Ringed City

Bit slower, bit heavier but also bit longer than other curved swords and has low requirements to be used. Deals both Fire and Physical damage. Fire damage scales only with Humanity but Physical damage scales with Humanity, Dexterity and Strength but only Dexterity scalling is actual good here... But hey - every point of damage more is ok. With 40 Dexterity and 10 Humanity we get 500+ split damage and it gives us really good DPS if we consider how fast this weapon can swing. Overall this is great choice for main weapon even up to NG+6 but keep in mind that it doesn't work good against fire resistant enemies.

Ah yes. When you switch from Falchion to Gold Tracer and have no idea what to do with Falchion so you turn it into this to have Dex fiery weapon as backup.

          • Anonymous

The fire damage does make it more situational then other weapons you might run into but I have taken this weapon into boss arenas and won, including the NG+ fight with Lord Gwyn.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this weapon. One of the few exceptions to the "if it's cool it's probably bad" rule of thumb. Obviously useless against highly fire-resistant enemies, but that's only really a problem in Izalith. Even Ornstien doesn't have enough fire defense to make it unviable. 100% give it a go.

I really really wish this sword is a curved greatsword and has unique moveset like when quelaag uses it, even if it makes the sword slower. The moveset, the length and the sound in the boss fight with quelaag of this sword is just fascinating.

                • Anonymous

Requirements aren't terrible, not super heavy, gets pretty good fire damage and good scaling with dex. Curved sword moveset is nice, too. Getting stronger with humanity is a neat idea, and the damage bonus isn't nothing either. On a +5 Furysword, 10 Humanity will give you roughly 20% damage up. It does have split damage, but outside of Lost Izalith, fire damage is pretty good. I like the design idea of making a weapon out of a spider's leg, and the flame trail is pretty sweet. All in all, a good weapon. Definitely worth a shot on dex builds.

Question: SL 120 meta PVP, this weapon and Gold Tracer, which is better?
Quelag will save my Warrior class 12 point in dex and reallocate in Vitality or endurance, with longer reach. But no bleed, 3.5 unit weight and slightly slower attack speed
While gold tracer require 25 dex and shorter reach, but weight only 2, bleed and faster

                    Which one is better?

It's still pretty bizzare to me that this and the tracers are the only weapons with unique swing trail effects for every attack in From's entire catalogue. They always seem to use it only for weapon arts now which kind of sucks because they look incredible but only show up for very few animations. Give us cosmetic Bloodflame effects on every single attack on Mogwyn's Sacred Spear you cowards.

I noticed when killing silver knights in anor londo with this thing they seemed to have a special death animation?
Could anybody else see if its just a glitch on my end?

this weapon is kinda bad and i dont know y ive seen youtube videos and its really good on the videos but its just not good for me for some reason please tell me if there is a way to make it work as good

                          • Anonymous

Good damage, fast attacks, good reach, low stamina usage, low weight, easy to use, looks cool and is a lot of fun. For casual PVE this is dex heaven. R1 is your new best friend.

                            • Anonymous

Good weapon for AotA, most enemys have fire-weakness and it has a pretty good atk-speed. Also it scales with humanity that you can farm in the Chasm of the Abyss

                              • For PVP it's a GREAT weapon. Not on the very top IMO, but maybe High-Tier?
it has a great move-set (and quite weird/unique which disconcert certain players), it is kind of fast (and so is the recovery in a mistake or a fail attempt), Does enough damage, good for dead angles, good for lock/unlock play, good for spam-killing, ok-ish running attack, not amazing criticals (but good enough ) I'd say is quite parry-able so that's bad but not terrible... VERY elegant weapon, taught me a lot and very fun to play, you should try it.

                                • I find it funny that people will go on and on about dark bead twinks, but this one can be done with a lower level and is even more powerful
Probably because they see less of them
Because it takes a friend to make it

The main appeal with the other curved swords is the 2H R1 stunlock which this one doesn’t have but what it does have is the best R2 attacks or all the curved swords

I can’t get those sword anymore because I’ve been a ****ing idiot and have consumed all the boss souls. I thought the description implied you’d either get souls or a small chance of their weapon to be automatically put in your inventory. I didn’t realize I actually had to take their souls to a blacksmith

is this sword worth investing? first run of dark souls 1 and currently running a semi giantdad but wanna have fun with some boss weapons

Push a defeated humanoid body up against a wall with your feet and try the [Forward + R1] backflip. You will send the body flying backwards overhead.

How come this sword got fire trails effects while greatlord gs doesn't gotta one? thx from soft very uncool

Get a scimitar to +10 before you head to Anor Londo, and if you explored/killed the titanite demons as you progressed you should have enough demon titanite for a +5 quelaag's just before Ornstein and Smough. Makes the boss a cakewalk.

Best defense against backstab fishers. Just mix up heavies to avoid parries. My personal tactic is r1,r2, r1x2, r2, r1, r2x2. Victory. Because this weapon has insanely low stat requirements and though it gets a B in dex scaling, it only applies to that measly 90 physical, so it gets jack really for any stat investment, I run this weapon on a poise monster build (50 vitality, 90 endurance, 16 strength, 16 dexterity) with the Avelyn (I call it The Mage Masher). Spam attacks against other poise builds to break them, and as soon as a mage lifts their wand you have enough time to pepper them with an Avelyn spray and roll away usually for about 490-580 against light armor builds. This set up to me, feels so, so, soooooo damn dirty.

people need to stop downvoting questions... Dark Souls was originally a game that mature, intelligent, and hardcore gamers played.. This ridiculous downvote button has made this entire site look juvenile.

Best looking sword in the series. protruding web coming form the handle, spike appeal linking the witches of Izalith.... Ahhh just great

10 of 10 invasions will have an enemy with this weapon. Totally op if you are not carrying a parry weapon or shield.

This weapon’s basically the fire version, of the pontiff knight curved sword! Well, at least that’s my opinion anyway.

What if this weapon was originally obtainable like dragon tails? You cut it, and get it. I mean it looks literally like Quelaag's Leg.

While dragon tail weapons don't really look like tails, rather tails that were smithed.
