Smough's Hammer is a Weapon in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.
Great Hammer from the soul of executioner Smough, who guards the cathedral in the forsaken city of Anor Londo.
Smough loved his work, and ground the bones of his victims into his own feed, ruining his hopes of being ranked with the Four Knights."
How to Get / Where to Find the Smough's Hammer
Forge any hammer or great hammer to +10 and ascend it with Soul of Smough at the Giant Blacksmith.
Notes and tips
- Give to Frampt to receive 1 souls.
- This weapon will heal 10 HP with every successful hit.
- The sheer size of the head tends to get in the way, limiting your field of vision.
- This weapon has a very slightly larger hitbox on the 2-handed rolling attacks when compared to other Great Hammers. While the increased range on this specific attack is quite minor, when paired with the fact that rolling attacks from Great Hammers cannot be parried, this can be quite useful in PVP.
- Two-handed R2 attacks cause Knockdown.
- To get the soul of smough be sure to kill orenstein first as you need to win against super smough to get his soul.
Smough's Hammer Upgrade Table
Demon Titanite weapon upgrades are usually for Boss Soul Weapons, created at the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo.
Regular Reinforcement Scales 50% for Strength to increase your AR.
To reach max, you need: 25,000 souls and 10 Demon Titanite.
Trivia
- This weapon has the highest Strength requirement in the game; 39 Strength is required to even wield it two-handed.
- Estimated to weigh between 2.8 and 41.7 Metric tons if it were to be constructed.

Sadly it does less damage then the Great Club when fully upgraded and at 60 STR. But the difference is only 20 damage, so it doesen't matter that much.

I love the idea of a hammer that's so big it covers up a considerable chunk of your screen

I prefer to stick with the Dragon Greatsword. It does more damage and it has a smaller Strength requirement.

Had this question. So regardless of whichever weapon you use to ascend it into a boss weapon, if u used the right weapon you will get the same Boss weapon with the same stats? Just wondering cause I wanted to use one of my weapons I don’t like as much compared to a better weapon I don’t want to use.

The 1 handed heavy attack looks like the attack that you would do if you didn’t meet the strength requirement for the weapon

"Correction : To acquire, it doesn't work with ANY strike weapon. The Caestus us is technically a strike weapon, and it doesn't work with it. It has to be a hammer, like the club or the Grant.

"Between 2.8 and 41.7 metric tons" That's quite a big window

I'm 2 Handing a +4 version of this at 40 STR, and with the 50% STR boost from 2 handing it, I can use it. Even though it has kind of ****ty scaling, it says it does 600 damage for me? I wanted to look for weapons with better STR scaling or base AR to invest in, comparing this to the Dragon Greatsword which has a higher base AR, this hammer still does more damage? Is this bc the Dragon Greatsword has no scaling at all?

Spam jump attacks, it does more damage, and is quicker, while consuming less stamina.

"Forge any strike weapon to +10 and merge it..." This is actually wrong. I just wanted to use a +10 Caestus, which is ingame classified as a strike weapon to forge Smough's Hammer, but it wouldn't show up in the menu at the Giant Blacksmith.

With high strength I think this is probably the best weapon in the game at least for fun

If you're dumb like me you will use the caestus because it's the cheapest strike weapon you can buy from andre. This weapon isn't crafted from "any" +10 strike weapon, it's crafted from hammers and clubs and maces only! Don't be cheap like me, despite what the wiki says <3

Dark Souls Theory: Smough's Hammer requires 58 STR because that's the size of Smough's massive schlong.

It sucks that an easy to get greataxe has an S scaling in strength, but a unique executioner's greathammer has a D scaling. Even though it is obtained much later in the game

I really wish the head of the hammer would block attacks the way it does in the actual boss battle. Though I guess that still wouldn’t be helpful since we keep the head of the hammer slung over our shoulders...

I have tried it on "prepare to die edition" (un-updated version) and you can parry Havel's Dragon's Tooth.

its like driving behind a bus in traffic while trying to use this

Frampt gives you an entire soul for a weapon you spent tens of thousands of souls, a bunch of extremely valuable upgrade materials and hours fighting Ornstein and Smough for? He is never going to financially recover from this...
