For some reason, "Sniping" and "Crossbow" go as well together in Dark Souls as "Bed of Chaos" and "Fun"

I upgraded one of these and used it to snipe Manus. The good news is that a +11 sniper crossbow dig more damage to Manus from the ledge than my +12 light crossbow. The bad news: everything else. This weapon sucks.

"I know, I'll compensate for it's slow as sin fire rate by making it raw!"
The devs: "NO."

For how meh it is, it’s design is probably the sexiest of the ranged weapons

Gameplay-wize it's kinda **** but it looks awesome, 10/10 for fashion souls
This sounds like a cool weapon, I thought, right before I missed a guy standing still about two feet in front of me before taking the rest of my day to reload it.

wrost crossbow , heavy , cant aim unlike bows ( wtf why) , high requaiments and long reload and in my opinion avelyn better it got semi auto

Shortbow: - Has no scope - Can aim Sniper crossbow: - Has scope - Cannot aim For how genius a lot of the choices in this game are, From can be really stupid sometimes.

I have a suspicion that a lot of these weapons come down to the Chosen Undead's lack of skill. Just like the Anor Londo Firekeeper's ability to block with her Parrying Dagger; some proficient character in-universe can properly snipe with this thing. The Chosen Undead cannot.

to aim it you have to use the binoculars or eyeball it with the camera

So i have to ask, why does the sniper crossbow have a Barbed Straight Sword image?

How can something have 'sniper' in its name when you can't even AIM the dumb thing??!
I had ironically found a good use for this on an old character i had, when i first started playing dark souls... I just couldn't beat Manus, and sniping him with bows was out (I idiotically sold all my bows to Frampt! I was new then, so forgive me for seeming dumb).
This was my only upgraded weapon, i had turned to 14 before going through a brief 'i hate all ranged weapons'-phase.... desperate to kill that abyssal jackass after finding out i could hit him from outside his arena, i used this weapon i foolishly upgraded in my naivety along with my trunk full of crossbows, after blind-firing on him, i managed to line up consistent hits and whittle him down to 0. Took a long time, but saved me a headache... so, least it came in handy for me, once, out of the zillion times it'd failed me before.
Would i use the crossbow again, though? Heck no! ... but it was truly all i had for that moment. Now, i either head-to-head fight with that dark-repelling pendant in a quickslot, or just snipe him with a pharis bow, or greatarrow bow.
