Spears are a Weapon Category in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Spears are fast long-reaching weapons that deal Thrust Damage. They are excellent for players who like a defensive approach, as they can attack while blocking. Spears are also good for counter-play as they can be effective for interrupting enemy attacks thanks to being relatively fast. The spear stabbing animation is precise but predictable, making it easy to block and unsuitable to engage against opponents with small hitboxes or high mobility.
- Pros: Light weight for long range, moderate Attack Power, good counter damage and deals poise damage.
- Cons: Mediocre scaling. Bad vs shields and predictable move set; can be parried easily.

Why do these deal such low damage to late game enemies? Seriously. My weapon's damage is supposed to be 468 but it deals like 100 anyway. I know they have defenses but is it THAT BAD?
Spears RANKED (My personal opinion)
BEING ACTUALLY USEFUL
1. Demon's Spear (I think it's better damage than lit Spear+5?)
2.Silver Knight Spear. This can do DAMAGE if +5. Ties with Dragonslayer Spear, for the lightning.
3. Winged Spear. Can be good for dex builds if gotten early.
4. Four-Pronged Plow. Deals damage and heavy is good, but it is DLC only. Ties with Channeller's Trident, for how STUPIDLY FZCKING RARE IT IS.
5. Spear. Default, good range, but is weak if not upgraded.
6. Moonlight butterfly horn. WORST MAGIC ONLY DAMAGE, but does look pretty sick.
7. Partizan and Pike, not good req. and is heavy, only found in certain locations.
LOOKING COOL
1. Channeller Trident (The dance, of course)
2. Plow (It is everybody's best farming tool)
3. Silv. Knight spear and Dragonslayer Spear.
4. Demon Spear and Moonlight Flying Butter Horn.
5.Winged Spear.
6. Partizan, Pike, and default Spear.
Spears are actually good, just if they weren't parried as much they'd be so, so much better.
The noble WINGED SPEAR triumphs on all other types of spears. It is without a doubt the greatest spear, and greatest weapon, of this game

Why is it Spears are designed to work best with a Greatshield, which scales with Strength, and the Spears all scale with Dex...?

Does anyone have any Advice for the best spear for a Dex/Faith Build? And what would be the best place to leave my stats.
