Does this shield provide a passive poison resistance buff? My mind is telling me no, but my body... is also telling me no.
Would be nice if this wiki entry addressed the question.

Does it grant passive poison resistance or only while you’re blocking?

Actually very good all around medium shield. Great stability/weight ratio, 100% psysical damage reduction and unique ability to block all poison/toxic attacks. Low magic resistance is only flaw.

The "Locations" portion of the "Acquired From" section misleadingly implies that one can pick up 3 Spider Shields in one playthrough (if you didn't start as bandit). However, it's redundant as it mentions the Valley of Drakes shield twice.

I'm very stupid and I dropped it in the area I found it because I thought it was just a low level shield, now I can never get in or out there without being prisoned

This shield is very useful in getting through blighttown. It negates posion/toxic buildup from attacks when you block them.

Wrong information here, the weight of the shield is actually 3.0 not 1.5 units.

Interestingly enough, the design is based on a shield found in From Software's first title, Kings Field (the Japanese only release) further showing how they like to make callbacks to previous titles.

here is something really weird that ive noticed about the spider shield: in sens fortress at the part right before the switch that turns the balls direction, when you first get there right after onion bro there is a snake that ambushes you in a very tiny room from the left, right after the arrow trap. if you have a decent shield equipped like the caduceus kite shield or the knight shield and you have the spell hidden body active, that snake will see you for some reason, even tho you are invisible, if you however use a wooden shield or the spider shield or no shield at all in your offhand, then the snake dude will not see you as intended, so im guessing the spider shield has some unique properties along with wooden type shields. in blighttown ive observed similar weirdness, if you have hidden body active with the better shields then the blowdart guys will still see you, but if you have wooden shield or no shield then they wont, im guessing once again spider shield works too although i havent tested it yet, im 99% sure tho. it also has nothing to do with equip load either as both the spider shield and caduceus kite shield weigh exactly 3.0, its something else entirely.
