Vow of Silence is a Miracle in Dark Souls. To cast a miracle, you must use a Talismans or Special Weapons that can cast Miracles.
Secret rite of the black-haired witch Velka. Prevents casting of magic within effect area.
Velka, the Goddess of Sin, is a rogue deity, but she is versed in arts both new and old, and is considered to have a great range of influence even as gods are concerned.
Usage
- Self, Area of Effect
- Duration: 30 seconds
- Creates an AoE field around you that stops all spell-casting within its area of effect, including your own.
- Affects Magic, Miracles and Pyromancy.
- Magic effects from weapons, like the Stone Greatsword and the Moonlight Greatsword, can still be used.

Notes
- The miracle has no effect on some Bosses. (Notably, Four Kings, Moonlight Butterfly, Gwyndolin)
- Confirmed for Moonlight Butterfly: although Vow of Silence symbol appears around her, there is no silencing effect to her magic, only to the caster's own.
- It is very effective at revealing the location of Crossbreed Priscilla when she is invisible, as the ward still appears around her.
AnonymousThere are some irritaing twink build using Wrath of the Gods or Dark Bead mixed with Tranquil Walk of Peace so they can one shot most players. But because they are twinks make purely for this they ususally don't stand a chance in normal fight.
So you cast Vow of Silence and watch them sh!t their pants.

actually like the Stray Demon you can use this miracle to cancel their area of effect attacks like the magic burst of the Firesage's fire variant. They end up being just a beefy asylum demon..

it can be used to "see" Crossbreed Priscilla's location during her invisible phases.
while not directly dispelling her, one can see her location because the miracle creates a visible effect around her
so it does not work directly but it is very helpful ;-)

I know this works on the firesage but does it work on any other bosses or enemies ex. Gwyndolin or Seath?

It works on demom firesage in original dark souls for 360. People need to test things before just saying it

Just want to say that it does work against some bosses. At least in the remaster. A good example of this is Demon Firesage. It won't trigger its explosions when affected by vow of silence. Also Seath in his second form (Although this could have been a bug) Will only use his thrashing tail attacks under its effect. Will test Seath further in coop if I can.

Perfect for protecting a host against a scummy bead user. Hell, even up into the dukes archives I've still struggled with getting one shot by bead twinks. Thise however is the ultimate solution and feels so satisfying when the bead twink finally gets what they deserve
