Full Sanctuary Garden Walkthrough

Getting there

To access the Sanctuary Garden, you first need to free Dusk of Oolacile. Head to Darkroot Basin and kill the Hydra that lives there. Once it's dead, hug the left wall of the lake and head past the ladder into a cave. There you'll find a Golden Crystal Golem, unless you've just killed the Hydra, in which case you'll need to quit and reload in order for it to appear. Kill this Golem and Dusk will appear.

Once you've spoken to Dusk, pay a visit to the Duke's Archive. Don't worry, you don't need to go too far into this hell; just the entrance, actually. Assuming you placed the Lordvessel, the golden fog gates should have disappeared, opening up new shortcuts, and progress routes. This is going to be extremely helpful for us, as we will be accessing the former golden fog gate in Anor Londo. Warp to the bonfire here, and take a left, into the hall with the two Sentinels, the Mimic - whether you've come here and cleared the area will determine if the mimic and chest are still present - and the doorway to the right holding another Sentinel; a doorway previously limited to continuing up the stairs and only being able to turn left, due to a golden fog gate on the right, that doesn't exist anymore.

Proceed in this direction and follow the path until you come across some steps leading into a narrow hallway. You may notice a Fang Boar at the end of this hallway, however this one appears to be fully plated in armor, and smaller in size. Keep an eye on it's charge attack, and don't give it too much room to run up. Kill it, then turn the first corner to find an empty hallway - don't be fooled, there is another around this corner. Take care of it, then find yourself in a room with a bonfire and an elevator. This elevator brings you up to the entrance of the Duke's Archives. Here, you will have to face a few Undead Crystal Soliders to get to your real target, the Crystal Golem. This one is a tad bit stronger than the others you may have faced, but drops an important item - the Broken Pendant (NOTE: he only drops the Pendant after you have freed Dusk of Oolacile).

Once you've acquired this make your way to the Hydra Lake in Darkroot Basin. Walk along the left side of the lake, hugging the wall as you go. At the very end (where you fought the Golden Crystal Golem to free Dusk of Oolacile) you will notice, what seems to be a dark portal. Examine it to cut to a cinematic showing you get pulled in by a monster hand.

Arriving at the Garden

When you land, you'll appear right next to a bonfire. Depending on your level, you may want to kindle it, as a boss fight awaits you. You may also warp to and from this bonfire, if you need to do stuff elsewhere. Ahead of the bonfire is a short, linear path without enemies leading to a fog gate. Beyond this gate, behold...

Boss Fight: Sanctuary Guardian

After you defeat the Guardian, find a doorway, the entrance to Oolacile Sanctuary; the start of your DLC adventure. You will also acquire the Guardian Soul, a Humanity, and 30,000 Souls.

Note: After having defeated another area boss and returning, there will be two weaker Guardians here that will respawn. It is not advised to take both on at the same time, but one can be killed with a bow from the tunnel to the start of the area. You can cut off the tail of these Guardians to receive the Guardian Tail if you missed it during the first fight.

yesterday I was at the oolacile township bonfire, I was getting my ass handed by kalameet, I died at least 50 times to him so I gave up for that day, today when I loaded my game I was at sanctuary garden, where I've never stepped a foot on. I guess it's just a bug, but I was like: where the hell am I?

Link to Undead Crystal Soldiers wiki entry in second "Getting There" paragraph is broken. 'Soldiers' is misspelled.

Idk if it’s a patch change or what, but there definitely aren’t two respawning guardians after the boss fight. I’ve rested and tested multiple times and it remains a baron pond.. fine by me except for the fact that I want that damn scorpion tail! X(

The href from "Guardian's Tail" is "/Guardian's+tail" however the Guardian Tail address is "/Guardian+Tail" instead. Please fix this little mistake.

I just recently bought and downloaded the AoTA dlc thing. Already excited. But also, mad, because I cannot get past this ridiculously powerful Manticore monster. XD

The directions here are wrong. You need to have rescued Dusk of Oolacile in the basin after killing the hydra before the blue crystal golem will drop the broken pendant.
