The Dragon Crest Shield is a Shield in Dark Souls. This shield is one of the best in the game for Fire Resistance, making it an excellent choice for handling bosses like the Bell Gargoyles and Chaos Witch Quelaag. It's an ideal starting shield for players with the Master Key, allowing early access to it. The shield can be acquired from a corpse in the Valley of the Drakes, found on a cliff in front of an Undead Dragon near Astora's Straight Sword.
Shield of a nameless knight, likely a high-ranked knight of Astora. One of the enchanted blue shields. The dragon crest shield greatly reduces fire damage.

Dragon Crest Shield Dark Souls Hints and Tips:
- A boon for low-level Master Key havers, otherwise only available after a grueling trip through Blighttown, or by taking the elevator from the bonfire in Darkroot Basin.
- The Undead Dragon guarding the items can be easily dispatched at range using spells, miracles, or even a bow, if you have enough arrows and patience.
- Don't forget to grab the Astora's Straight Sword sitting right next to it.
- The choice fire protection shield for most, weighing only 3 units and having 66 stability at max it is a great overall Shield for all purposes.

1. You dont need to try that hard in DS1
2. This is the best looking medium shield, maybe the best looking in the whole game and is good overall with 66 stability and high fire resistance. This might be the best shield in the game in the end.

Noob trap. The lack of stability makes this unsuitable for anything but fashion souls.
The dragon crest shield is a pretty underrating shield. It does boast some of the most impressive fire reduction in the game while having decent lightning. It's also pretty light for a fire shield. However, it finds itself outclassed by another fire shield, the black Knight shield. The black Knight shield is more stable, has more fire and it has more stats overall. The only thing that the dragon crest shield set this apart from it's competition is it's weight and it's slightly easy to get.

If accessing Blight Town through the Valley of Drakes, you can pick it up for the Queelag fight and subsequent Demon Ruins and Lost Isalith which can be very handy due to its high fire blocking.

Surprisingly good shield early game, especially against the Bell Gargoyles (presuming your stamina doesn't get completely drained from blocking the fire). Unfortunately is easily outclassed, especially by the easily obtained Grass Crest Shield that you can get before even the Taurus Demon if you go out of your way to grab it.

Whenever I equip the shield, no change in fire defence is seen at all. Though when I equip the red stoneplate ring it boosts defense?
It says you can enchant here but in game you can't enchant it.
