Dexterity is a Stat in Dark Souls
Dexterity
Dexterity controls the player's Attack Power for weapons that scale with Dexterity and increases casting speed for most spells.
- Some weapons require a minimum dexterity level to be wielded properly.
- If you do not meet the minimum dexterity required, you will stagger after every hit on an opponent.
- The speed of spell casting increases with dexterity, max speed at 45 dex.
- Casting speed is only affected by Dexterity in the range of 35-45. Anything below 35 and there will be no change in casting speed.
- Dexterity only affects casting speed of attack spells. Buffs and utility spells such as weapon buffs and Tranquil walk of Peace are not affected.
- Pyromancy: Increases attack pyromancy between 20-27%
- Sorcery and Miracles are increased by roughly 8-10%*
- Dexterity is especially useful for Daggers, Katanas, Thrusting/Piercing Swords, Curved Swords, Spears, Whips and Bows
*Even though the Miracle Wrath of the Gods is an attack spell the casting speed for this spell is not increased.

It feels like past early game dexterity is the best melee option honestly. Better with buffs. Better variation of ranges and attack speed. Speeds up pyromancy. And existence of silver knight and eagle shields makes heavier shields absolute as well. Basically 2h bonus for twinks is arguably the only reason. And even fashion is overall better

is it worth to "waste" 5 levels to reach 45 dex from 40 in a pyro-dex pvp build? anyone knows the casting speed difference between 40 and 45 dex?
- Anonymous
Affecting cast speed but only at 35-45 is such a weird and bizarre implementation of it.

wait the table shows weapons that are good for dex builds, S being best and C being worst?

Does Leveling Dexterity increase the cast speed of attack spell Miracles? like lightning spear, sunlight spear, ECT?
- Anonymous
Dex players do it faster and longer. Until NG++ when you end up leveling everything to use the Great Sword of Artorias.

Balder Side Sword gets A scaling when at +14 or +15. Does that not belong in the A list, or is this only a list of base weapon stats?
- Anonymous
this doesnt affect attack speed of any weapons does it? it doesnt affect item usage speed like in ds2 either right?

I could swear that dex influences attack speed. I was having trouble with my Guts build using a Greatsword, continually getting staggered because of the slow swing. And after I upgraded the sword(to +4) and threw a level on dex(making it 18), I was able to hit enemies before their attack animations finished. I can't find any solid evidence for this besides knowing that upgrades don't effect attack speed. I need to start recording my runs so I can confirm this type of thing.

most of the weapons on this list are on the wrong scale. They are exchanged with the force scale. I suggest checking before upgrading the weapon.

Uchigatana is missing from this list - standard DEX scaling is "B", can be improved to "A" on high upgrade levels...
