Best PvE katana. While it has bit lower dmg than Uchi and required more Dex to use Iaito moveset is far better for AI controlled enemies.

2H R2 covers big distance and ends with wide slash that can hit multiple enemies while Uchi strike from above head focus on one point. So we have greater reach using Iaito. This is often one shot one kill on many common enemies without getting into their range.

1H R2 works similiar way but Iaito is much faster while Uchi poking 1H R2 is almost as slow as 2H slash version. So we can use Iaito R2 for quick strike before enemy has chance to attack.

But what about poking? In tight corridors poking is better than wide slashes so R2 will be useless. Well Iaito has 2 poking attacks and they works same way with 1H or 2H style. Either use running attack or backstep attack (depending how close enemy is) and you will end up with thursting instead of striking.

Divine upgrade have wrong scalling. It should be -/D/-/C (Dex and Fai) not D/E/-/C. Iaito doesn't scale with Str at all.

My favorite dex build weapon in the game. Better overall than the curved swords because it has longer reach plus I get to keep the kick. It also slashes vertically so it's great for fighting next to walls and in hallways.

If you inspect the blade you'll notice that, unlike the Uchigatana's, the Iaito's has no hamon or blade pattern. AKA it's not sharpened. Which means that by using this sword the Chosen Undead is skilled enough to defeat his opponents with a blunt practice weapon.

Its hard to get bleed damage off in pvp cause people keep running away once it gets high.
