Divine is a gameplay mechanic in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. It is a debuff status effect and one of the auxiliary special effect and a damage type.
General Information

Divine is an auxiliary effect attained upgrading a weapon down the Divine Upgrade path (ascension by upgrading a Standard +5 weapon, with a requisite of Divine Ember and Large Divine Ember done by Andre of Astora), or finding an already imbued weapon with Divine.
- Effective against Skeleton enemies, Crow Demon, and Mass of Souls.
- Effect: Prevent Skeleton enemies from resurrecting in The Catacombs and Tomb of the Giants.

Notes:
- On rare occasions the Silver Knight Spear does not prevent Skeletons from coming back. Possibly because the Counter bonus damage killing it before the Modifier could register its effect. Further testing required.

i lke to do that in order to make the catacombs less sufferable. you remember that occult club you get in anor londo? go to a blacksmith and reverse it to divine. a +5 divine weapon makes pretty well in the catacombs.

You'd think straight up cursed ghosts woukd be weak to Divine. Nope

Does divine also do extra damage to certain enemies like skeletons or bosses

Using a +5 Divine composite bow with standard arrows. I have 15str 15dex and 25fai. AR I'm menu is ~250, actual damage done is not even half of that, not even 50 on bone wheels who should be week to divine. Why is the damage so low?

Why does the silver knight spear do it, but not the silver knight sword?

Just want to point out that the description of the effect in the top right of this page describes bleed
"Also prevents Skeleton enemies from resurrecting." Is there anything similar in Dark Souls 2?
