Skeleton Beast is an Enemy in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Enemies are hostile creatures that respawn when players rest at a Bonfire or upon death. Special enemies that do not respawn are classified as Bosses, Mini Bosses or Invaders.
Skeleton Beast Information
Similar dimensions to the Giant Skeletons, but on all fours and with an elongated skull that looks like a cross between human and canine. Wields no weapon. Fast and agile, with regular swipe attack and a hugely damaging flurry attack.
Drops
- 1500 souls
Attacks
- Bite Attack
- Lunging Bite attack
- Flurry Bite Attack
Strategy
- If you don't have high endurance try a greatshield, use a fast attacking weapon and attack 1-2 times after each block
- Attacks do 400-480 a hit, armor has little effect.
- Strong immunity to lightning, so far fire does the most damage to them.
- One of the best ways to deal with them is to attack them from behind, they turn around relatively slowly. Try to circle strafe them with your shield up to land a couple of hits.
- If you have a strong enough weapon, the superior way to deal with them is with a single jump attack.
- Their attacks are so strong that even with a good shield they are capable of pushing you over the edge, so mind your surroundings when you engage them.

At first i figured these were unplayable bullshit
Hellkite Drake Undead Dragons Capra Demon 3 drakes near flood gate and the giant skeletons guarding a amber before the 1st bonfire in tomb of the giants
But after training with them it appears they can actually be killed without cheese
Don't lock on. Rush his booty. He has 1 unreactable and easily blockable single strike bite attack. Place a prism stone and fight him on that if walls/pits are too problematic for you. Remember your level or upgrades do not effect poise damage you deal so try chain poise breaking. You can come back later after you get the sunlight maggot or caat light spell to block and see. Blocking and baiting them to backhop into a pit is extremely viable
Just treat them like a normal giant skeleton and p4e block if your infront because the aforementioned unreactable

There are giant skeletons around the Tomb Of Giants that are very similar to these things, only way bigger, thank goodness that they aren't "alive", imagine having to deal with huge versions of these abominations

My strat for murking these bad boys (im using Divine Battle Axe +8, 14 dex, 24 strength, 22 faith)
Bait an attack and then roll to the side of it, try staying behind and hitting it three times with a light attack (R1), should put down the beastie pretty easily

What exactly are these things, in terms of species?
Taking account of their humanoid skull and skeleton + sharp teeth + quadrupled form, I like to think that they were once living werewolves, or something similar. The closest I can think of would be the “Scourge Beasts” from Bloodborne (aka, the feral-bodied werewolves). I’m not suggesting that they’re connected, but they are similar.

If these guys were in Nito's arena he would be the hardest boss in all the series

I thought the wheelskeletons worst. I wish there was 10 of them instead of this abominations before nito.

Anyone else see a connection between these things and the big ass werewolf creatures from bloodborne?

I don't even want to know what these things are the skeletons of.
- Anonymous
the only good thing about them is that their aggro range is very small, so, I rather avoid them.

What demon thought adding these into the game would be a good idea

these things make getting to Nito a NIGHTMARE, like harder than ANY other run to a boss, i can get to seaths speedrunning and take no dmg, i can dodge past every single blasted enemy on the way to quelaag or to four kings, but getting to nito!? i always save him for last because of how difficult getting to him is

**** these things. Whoever says Blighttown is the worst area needs a reality-check

I was exploring the tomb of giants then I saw this and I started screaming and running

If you don't have Attunement, before getting Sunlight Maggot and Red Slab/Cunks, Upgrade Zwei Chaos +5, @ 10 Humanity with Strong 2H attack you can one shot them at a safe distance (Only NG 0 tho)

There’s no mention here of how often they throw themselves off the edges. In my most recent play through I only fought a couple properly, the rest took the leap.

I don't know exactly what these things are, but they scare me to death.

the best way to deal with them is pyromancy flame with the crown and bellowing ring. fire orb can kill them in one hit and you can kill every single one without even aggroing them. just approach lock on range and throw one in. this can be done at sl 1

The best thing I could come up with is this: If you have already dealt with the clerics in the pit below Patches, lure the Beasts over to either the ladder bonfire or the ladder behind the illusory wall. If you stay at the very top (or slightly lower in case they attack) they will fall right off by either walking or attacking. The safer one is the ladder behind the illusory wall, but it's a longer trek and you won't get any souls. If you use the bonfire ladder, there is a chance they can fall off the level and die but if they don't, you are in striking distance for the flurry attack if you have to do this repeatedly. Hopefully someone finds this helpful.

I hate it when you target this enemy and they stand up, the camera suddenly resets and leaves you vulnerable for one of the most damaging attacks if you try to hold your shield up while stepping back.

These can be a real pain but Aural Decoy can be pretty effective in distracting them long enough to kill them or to get away if there's too many.

Pyro is king here. +12 Pyro makes them a cake walk, but for god sake pack good armour.

Thought these things were easy as until I slipped off the edge, had to retrieve my 50k souls and 20 humanity and then failed to do so from their weird inconsistent attacks. They have this random attack that kills you in 2 swipes and up until then they barely took off a sixth of my health. Yes I mad. I was not expecting them to two shot me when I had basically completed the level at that stage like it was a walk in the park.

Technically, these critters aren't as invincible as one might think. Interestingly, as a sorcerer with Homing Soul Mass, I don't have any serious problems with them. HSM attacks them even before I get into their aggro range and I only need one cast. The same applies to the giant skeletons. Dodge cleverly and only block when necessary. But, gracious Gwyn, the whole appearance of these abominations is terrifying. Especially those twitching, disturbing movements. Overall, these beasts remind me of huge, rabid skeletal dogs with an uninhibited lust for murder.

Noob here. I found myself against these guys and was not prepared. My ultimate way through was using the lantern to see them before they saw me, then dash forward an inch and then double heavy zweihander. (Stun, then finish) and, if not slain, swap to shield and hug it like a teddy bear till i see an opening.
Funny thing, I didn't have the tool to go through the gate! Ha! Backtracking fun. Which is probably for the best, lol.

This thing can end my lv 60 character in seconds with just a few swipes.

The skeleton beast is one of the most cancerous enemies in DSR. It's capable of shredding you into pieces in NG6+, there fast, aggressive, have no tells of their attacks and they are literally cheap at killing you. This is one of the only enemies that really pissed me off and makes tomb of the giant a frustrating place to explore.

They don't actually have high lightning resistance. 2 hits from lightning spear or great lightning spear will take on out. My usual strategy is one hit from LS to drop their health enough to finish with a hit from my weapon, since slow weapons have time to hit between their attacks but not time to safely recover.

Don't make the mistake and shot one with a bow from around 3-4 meter away. They lunge their way to you and kill you in like 2-3 hits with it. When that happened to me it scared the***** out of me.

Well I discovered those guys today and they are the strongest ennemies i've met so far, Big ennemies with huge damage where a thing so far but they weren't so fast and especially so much, like the numbers of those you meet in the tomb is quite incredibly high for how strong they are. I also believe their intended weakness was the fact that you can easily go around them to get free hits since they turn slowly, however, due to the lack of vision and the terrain it's most of the time a very bad idea and you end up having to stand in front of them and thus risk getting one shot

The mandatory encounters on your way to Nito are pretty susceptible to Jump Attacks with a strong weapon. Using a BKS+5 at 46 STR, a jump attack would easily onehit them, and using the skull lantern, you can get a feel for when you're close enough (and yet far away enough) to be able to hit them (without them hitting you first, which will happen if you start the animation while being too close). For sure a cheesy way to kill those, but in an area with little room to navigate against those fast and mobile enemies, I feel like that's warranted

As my friend stated it perfectly as when I asked them what the ToTG is like he said, easy if you have a lantern, but the skeledogs, he shuddered, faster than human reflexes. I got to say it's true, I hate these guys. What makes matters 20x worse is that they are absolutely horrific, they are probably the scariest thing in the game, other than seeing that first bonewheel run at you in PWoA

I had good luck using halberds on these ****-ers. Dodge backwards after the first attack and keep them spaced, I can get them in 2 hits with a +10 scythe and 35 dex.
- Anonymous
A reinforced or raw GREAT CLUB +10 stuns them and makes them piece of cake with just two hits even in NG++ :)
- Anonymous
Don't mind me, just here to add that these guys ARE pieces of*****.
- Anonymous
Easily the worst enemy in the game. Basilisks are up there, but they usually die in 1 or 2 hits so if you hit them before they start spewing the curse mist then you've basically won. These guys, on the other hand, are completely irredeemable. Because although they can be easy to beat by circling around them, they're not just going let you do that with ease and you can't half the time because they're also usually by a cliff that you can easily fall off. So yeah, as I said, worst enemy in the game.
- Anonymous
i'm dealing with them using the Eagle Shield. use lantern, step slowly until they appear from the darkness, switch to ES, let them attack - they will stagger with your shield block, use this to put one hit on them, repeat.

A piece of garbage that spams very fast, extremely heavy attacks until you die. This is the only enemy in the game I would go so far as to call unfair.
- Anonymous
You need to be Jesus to slay these pieces of shiet. UNLIMITED POISE AND THAT GODDAMN FALL ATTACK??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

Fuck these things. If I could remove a single enemy from this game entirely it'd be this fucking abortion of an enemy. It has unlimited poise and can just fuck off past all your attacks, has an attack that just plain one-shots you if you don't have 48 VIT (that's what i have and it's the only instance where didn't die) and apparently it's the offspring of Usain Bolt and fucking Sonic.
But really, these enemies aren't fun to fight.
