Possessed Tree is an Enemy in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Enemies are hostile creatures that respawn when players rest at a Bonfire or upon death. Special enemies that do not respawn are classified as Bosses, Mini Bosses or Invaders.

Possessed Tree Description

A giant living tree which is more of an obstacle than an enemy. Looks like a normal tree with its branches and roots wiggling.

Drops

  • None

Attacks

  • Slashing vines (need Confirmation)

Strategy

Notes

  • Two trees block the entrance to a secret path where the Wolf Ring (increases poise by 40) is. Right before where the Stone giants guard the Elite Knight armor set, look to the right and attack the first big tree. Can be distinguished by constantly moving branches and roots. Also they can slowly move around the territory.

  • You can not lock onto these enemies.

  • The tree can sometimes be moved for an unknown reason

I have no clue why but this thing terrifies me despite the fact that from what I know it's totally harmless, seeing a big tree move like that is so creepy to me for some reason

If you beat the butterfly then walk back to the bonfire instead of using a bone, this tree will move to block the entrance of the area to try and confuse you into walking into the new exit, which is the wolf ring route. It confused me the first time it happened, but back then i thought this wooded area was much larger and more maze like because it was my first time. I got totally lost and killed by the stone knights while out of estus from the butterfly fight. Only noticed it when i came back cause it hadnt moved from the area entrance.

I’m surprised no where on this page is there any mention of the attack where it eats you if you stand by it for too long. It can also attack you with its vines as well.

Had this thing move towards the fog door that clears when you enter the area, it didn't even reset back after I sat at the bonfire near the crest of artorias door, weird.

I came upon this guy on accident. It didn't attack, so I killed it quickly. But damn it gave me a scare! Why must even the trees be hostile?
