Drops | 1000 ~ 3000 Souls (NG+ 3000 ~ 9000 ) Titanite Chunk |
Giant is an Enemy in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Enemies are hostile creatures that respawn when players rest at a Bonfire or upon death. Special enemies that do not respawn are classified as Bosses, Mini Bosses or Invaders.
Giant Description
Huge warriors responsible for controlling the machinations and protection of Sen's Fortress. There are three of them across the fortress: the Gate Giant, the Boulder Giant and the Firebomb Giant. Apart from the Boulder Giant, they do not respawn.
Drops
- Titanite Chunk (Guaranteed)
- 1000 souls
Attacks
- Stomp Attack - can be blocked with high enough ST and a greatshield, but it's easier to simply back step it.
- Ground Swipe - can be blocked with high enough ST and a greatshield, but staying between his leg or behind him is another way of simply avoiding the attack
- Charge Attack - a combination of a stomp and swipe where he'll move forward at the same time and then remain idle while he catches his breath - this is a great time to land some hits.
Strategy
Simply stay beneath them and hacking away at the ankles initially, but roll to avoid getting hit when they swipe the ground with their arms. They will start to stomp on you if you stay beneath them too long, so back off when you see them raise a leg to begin stomping. If you see them winding up for the charge attack then get behind them and wait until they finish, at which point they'll be wide open for a good few hits while they catch their breath.

Boulder giant didn't give me a titanite chunk. Is it possible that it somehow clipped into the floor?

These guys can throw boulders weighing several tons up to a football field away. It's a crime they can't automatically one-shot the player. That's like saying that if I stomped on a 6-week premature newborn it would only take off half it's health

After reading the lore about the giants I feel like killing them is a better fate for them.

I never touched the Boulder Giant, he just looks like someone getting on with their job. Hugely enjoyed killing the Firebomb one though, what a *****.

The Firebomb Giant can be poisoned in NG with two poison arrows, so it's easy to take him out from anywhere you can hit him. Just test your range with some non-poison arrows first.

Respawning boulder mechanism giant only drops titanite chunk on first kill. He will not drop anymore titanite chunks after the first one.
True og players will remember, when the firebomb giant used to throw bombs to the area ahead of the player. Having a tiny window to run past before the next bomb would land. I remember they patched him back around 2012.
