Drops | 500 Souls (NG+ 1500 ) Dung Pie Large Club Pickaxe |
Infested Barbarian (Club) is an Enemy in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Enemies are hostile creatures that respawn when players rest at a Bonfire or upon death. Special enemies that do not respawn are classified as Bosses, Mini Bosses or Invaders.
Infested Barbarian (Club) Description
Large and ugly Undead who have taken liking to clubs and use them as weapons. Also see the Boulder variety.
Drops
- Dung Pie (50% Chance)
- Large Club (2% club wielder)
- Pickaxe (5% boulder thrower)
Attacks (Large Club)
- Combo - A combo of vertical and horizontal swings with a moderate cooldown period between each swing.
- Sweep - Horizontal sweeping attack with long windup, also does a decent dash forward.
- Running Attack - It starts jogging at a faster pace towards player while raising its large club in an overhead position, bringing the club down quickly.
- Slam - It raises its club overhead with two hands and stands upright while bringing it down with short windup.
Strategy
They can be easily brought down with backstabs, as they are slow, and have a large recovery time after swings. They are also quite susceptible to critical hits (a combo of 3 or 4 with a dagger will usually include a critical hit. Their large clubs can drain stamina and can crowd you with overwhelming stamina draining and poison attacks if you're not careful in the beginning area. Their large clubs attacks are easily parry-able and can be riposted with practice, as most of their attacks have moderate speed, large windup, and are easily detectable. However, their club has surprising range, especially the overhead swing, which can take players off guard. Learn to identify when they are building up to do their roar, as they are completely open to attack and defenseless the entire time (an excellent opportunity for a back attack).

They don't "drop" the dung pies. When you backstab them, you shove your sword up their behind and the dung pies are what's left after you wipe the sword.

Any tips on farming them? I want to get the Large Club they drop, but considering their location, it's kinda far from any bonfire.

Oh my god when I started playing Dark Souls I found a message pointing to these guys saying “fatty ahead” and for years I have just assumed that they were, in the Dark Souls lore, called Fatties

I remember blundering into these from valley of drakes in my first playthrough. Bye bye 3000 souls.

The three barbars on the way to Valley of the Drakes can be cheesed by drawing their attention then climbing onto the top ladder. They'll fall right off the platform. Very satisfying.

I think I found a bug with these guys and bleed. If they are killed with a backstab/riposte+bleed, they will continue their get up animation, but die as soon as they get up.

first time I encountered one(the one that comes running at you after you climb down) all I could see was a big thing jogging rapidly towards me. I love the fear!
