Snow Rat is an Enemy in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Enemies are hostile creatures that respawn when players rest at a Bonfire or upon death. Special enemies that do not respawn are classified as Bosses, Mini Bosses or Invaders.
Snow Rat Information
A special type of Sewer Rat found exclusively in the Painted World of Ariamis.Similar to the small sewer rats, with one huge difference: Snow Rats can inflict Toxin effect with its attacks whether or not they're blocked. About as aggressive as its more common cousin - that is to say, not very - but its attacks inflict toxic damage when aggravated (more lethal than the Sewer Rats' poison), so if you meet any kill them quickly.
Drops
- Humanity (5% Chance)
Strategy
- Since the area they appear in is infested by Engorged Zombie, you should be bringing poison protection - Spider Shield recommended. Most problematic when they appear in groups - use wide attacks to kill multiple rats at once, as they are easily staggered.
- Spear and shield or magic work best. They usually ignore you until you attack so just make sure to kill it quickly or just take 1-2 hits, block, rinse and repeat.

They're the least of our worries. They are shy until you come close, and dwell in secluded areas of the map. Even with Toxic they are less dangerous than those Rats in the Parish and especially the Rats down in the Depths.
Unless you're farming Humanities in Painted World for some reason you never have to really fight them.
