Large Mushroom People is an Enemy in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Enemies are hostile creatures that respawn when players rest at a Bonfire or upon death. Special enemies that do not respawn are classified as Bosses, Mini Bosses or Invaders.
Large Mushroom People Information
These enemies come in two varieties: small, largely-defenseless shrooms and enormous brutes. The little ones can attack, but will almost always fall flat on their faces instead, leaving them completely vulnerable. The large mushroom men deal tremendous damage with their slow wind-up punches, and can guard crush the player quite easily
In Dark Souls 3 there is a pile of Mushroom People corpses in Farron Keep.
Drops
- Gold Pine Resin (80% Chance)
- Gold Pine Resin x2 (20% Chance)
Attacks
Warning, extreme damage, do not underestimate. Consumes a lot of stamina when blocked.
- Heavy Punch.
- Heavy Punch, followed up by a slow Heavy left hand punch.
Strategy
In The Great Hollow you may be able to use the mushroom pads above to set up plunging attacks on the big guys; elsewhere, just try to get behind them and attack once or twice before rolling backward. Otherwise, lure them into swinging at you, then rush in for no more than two quick hits (depending on your weapon) before dodging back again. Be wary of a one-two swing combination, which can easily kill you. Never attempt to fight the large ones in groups!
When returning to The Great Hollow from Ash Lake, aggro the Mushroom People into following you back through the Ash Lake tunnel. The tunnel narrows a short ways into it and the Large Mushroom People can't advance any further down the tunnel. Attack them at that spot, and be sure to avoid the one-two swing.
Also, if you follow the mushroom pads up quite a ways, I found the big guys were unable to advance past a certain pad with a branch crossing over it, like it was blocking the way. (Needs confirmation) Lantern005: I have encountered this, the branch is about 1/4 of the way down the mushroom path and crosses almost the entire mushroom pad. The large one cannot pass this branch, but they can punch past it.

These things can turn 180 degrees instantly if you get behind them, and lunge forward at you from a mile away and take off half your health in a single swing. Even other bullshit melee enemies like the Man-Serpents aren't this bad.

It looks funny and terryfying at the same time LOL (i think it looks funny)

If these things could run they'd be the scariest enemy in all of dark souls

Oh look, a cool mushroom man! He's probably friendly. I'm sure I won't get my skull shattered like a piñata at a caffeine-addicted 7-year-old's birthday party.

Got one shotted by one after seeing one for the first time on my NG+ playthrough. I decided to take a trip to Great Hollow for once instead of heading to Queelag. I murdered their babies in revenge

They are called large mushroom people? I thought they were the parents of the smaller mushrooms. Now I feel a lot less guilty about killing them.

To anyone looking to farm gold pine resin from these guys: I'm pretty sure the ones in Ash Lake/The Great Hollow don't drop it. I've been farming them for a little with 410 item discovery and haven't gotten a single resin yet. Keep in mind that it's an 80% base chance to drop and a 20% base chance for a double drop. This means that if you really want to farm gold pine resin, you'll have to kill the ones in Darkroot, which means it's a fairly long trek to make just to kill 2 of the big bois. Guess it's up to you whether or not it's worth it though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
