Chained Prisoner is an Enemy in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Enemies are hostile creatures that respawn when players rest at a Bonfire or upon death. Special enemies that do not respawn are classified as Bosses, Mini Bosses or Invaders.
Chained Prisoner Description
The chained prisoner is an enemy similar to the Oolacile Residents, it's humanity has gone wild, mutating and corrupting his body and mind. The Chained Prisoner is in the Oolacile Township and guards the entrance to the Chasm of the Abyss.
Drops
- Chain Helm (20% Chance)
- Chain Armor (20% Chance)
- Leather Gauntlets (20% Chance)
- Chain Leggings (20% Chance)
General strategy
- the Chained prisoner will use the pole and chained balls that are attached to him to attack. Since parrying is impossible, stability is what you'll want for this opponent. Most weapons will be deflected by the chains around him, similar to the Fang Boar / Armored Tusk, Heavy Weapons like the Greatsword won't be deflected.

My theory is that this thing actually is Artorias after he was corrupted by the abyss and the Artorias we fight is just an illusion.

I was using the abyss great sword and it still deflected, is there some weirdness regarding what counts as a big enough weapon?

I was excited about what the chain armour might be, until I realised it was that chain armour.

Of course a late game enemy in the dlc would drop bad armor and nothing else

I was using a Silver Knight Spear on it. My attacks bounces one handed but not when two handed.

Has anyone experienced him as an invador in the casm of the abyss? It just happened to me, he was red and when he died, he melted like other black phantoms...

By the size of the room I expected something big and scary. Not Chainy McChains
