Dagger is a Weapon in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.
This standard small dagger has only a modest attack but can be jabbed in rapid succession, and is effective in critical hits such as after a parry or when stabbing in the back."
"With both slash and thrust attacks this dagger is useful in various situations."
How to Get / Where to Find the Dagger
- Default equipment for the Sorcerer class.
- Purchased from Undead Merchant (male) (300 Souls).
- Video Location Timestamp 1:11
Hints and Tips:
- Can be given to Kingseeker Frampt to receive 50 Souls.
- While the Bandit's Knife has slightly longer range, better critical attacks, and a bleed effect, the basic Dagger possesses faster swing speed with some of the fastest normal attacks in the entire game, and a more versatile moveset. This fast swing speed leads to it being more efficient with buffs that add flat damage increase to weapons.
- Fantastic for producing sheer elemental DPS. The fast rate of attacks adds up to a lot of Fire/Lightning damage very quickly if you can achieve high uptime on the target. Ideal for bosses with timer-designed mechanics like The Four Kings.
- A very serviceable early weapon for Dex-oriented backstabbers and riposters who didn't start as Thieves.

dagger good toggle tool for PvP. every build can strap a dagger in the rh2 slot and get decent backstab damage with it. kicking -> 2hr2 is a true combo which is really good pressure and the r2 is generally really good at finishing people off. strong toggle tool big fan
come to the townshit i need more PvPers :^)

What is so great about dagger for non-dex charater?
- Very light
- Very fast
- Very low stamina usage
- Easy to obtain
- Every character can use it without leveling Str or Dex
So regular/raw dagger is perfect weapon for pure spellcaster using weapon buffs and spells.

This weapon's R2 is really good. Why couldn't they have left it the same for the other games?
Rating for Dagger upgrade Routes:
STANDARD: Not bad, A scale in dex.
CRYSTAL: Also A scale, but can't be repaired.
LIGHTNING: Really not bad damage. If it had better damage, it could take you no NG+2. MAYBE...
RAW: Yeah.... no. Just... no.
MAGIC: Prob like Dagger version of Magic Falch+10. Not really that bad.
ENCHANTED: A scaling in INT, really not bad if it did more damage.
DIVINE: Ummmm..... Good? If skeletons were slower.
OCCULT: Sure, why not? Does good damage.
FIRE: Speedy flame dagger go brrrrrrr....
CHAOS: Smaller Chaos Zweihander

Buff with Golden Pine Resin, eat a Green Blossom and mash R1. Hilariously high DPS in both PvP and PvE. Easily my favorite weapon in the game.

Is this basically the Bandit's Knife without bleed and worse critical damage, or am I missing something?

I don’t know...it’s actually quiet effective if you’re into backstabbing and with the right magical buffs it can work wonders! Electric buff for example can killed the Torus demon in five quick strikes, nice little piece!

I took a “stab” at using this weapon and it didn’t give me the “edge” I was looking for.
