Build Strategy
You can only use Daggers and Katanas with this character. Start by riposting with the Bandit's Knife you start with as a thief. For enemies that cannot be parried two hand the Bandit's Knife. Once you free Lautrec and receive his Sunlight Medal, KILL HIM IMMEDIATLY before he kills Anastasia of Astora (The Fire Keeper at Firelink Shrine).
First buy the Chain Armor from the Undead Merchant, then Kill him to obtain the Uchigatana. Alternatively you can make the jump in Blight Town to get the Iato, or join the Forest Hunters Covenant and buy the Uchigatana or Washing Pole from Shiva of the East when he moves to Blight Town. However it is recommended to skip Blight Town by using the Master Key that the Thief Class starts with. The depths is required to get the Ring of the Evil Eye though.
When you kill Quelagg, DO NOT CONSUME QUELAGG'S SOUL. Either two-hand a Katana, or use the Badit's Knife in conjunction with a shield. By the time you are done with Sen's Fortress your weapon of choice, AND A KATANA, should be at +10. Although it is recommended to skip Blight Town, once you reach the bottom, you can head through the area backwards to obtain the Wanderer set. Drop down from one of the holes near the end of Sen's Fortress to obtain the Slumbering Dragon Crest Ring.
Before fighting Ornstien and Smough and the Painted World of Ariamis, it is highly recommended to acquire the Chaos Blade from the +10 Katana and Quelagg's Soul. It is very easy to upgrade it to +5 by this point in the game. Kill the Titanite Demon by Andre, the four Titanite Demons at the bottom of Sen's Fortress, and the one right before the big room before Ornstien and Smough. There are two Demon Titanites in chests in Anor Londo. One is guarded by two Giants in the room leading to the Dukes Archives and before the elevator. One of these chests is a Mimic so be careful. The last Demon Titanite will be in a chest hidden behind the elevator in Anor Londo at the bottom. This will be enough to fully upgrade the Chaos Blade. Use the Chaos Blade to get through the Painted World. Make sure to CUT OFF PRISCILLA'S TAIL. If she is about to die without her tail being cut off, let yourself die.
You now have an additional dagger option instead of the Bandit's Knife. You can get the Dragon Scales to upgrade in the following locations; Kill the Hydra in Darkroot Basin, Kill the Hydra in Ash Lake, Kill the Undead Dragon in Valley of Drakes, Kill the Undead Dragon in the Painted World of Ariamis, there are a few in Ash Lake that can be picked up, and there is one in a chest behind the Bonfire at the Bottom of Blight Town. You can also farm Dragon Scales from the Wyverns in the Valley of Drakes.
Next kill Ornstien and Smough. It is recommended to summon Solaire for help, and to take out the second phase boss with Black Fire Bombs which can be purchased from the Crestfallen Merchant. This will allow you to enter the Duke's Archives.
If you have already killed the Hydra in Darkroot Basin, you will find a Golden Crystal Golem at the back of the lake. If not, use your Black Fire Bombs to do so. Stick to the wall, there is no floor in the middle of the lake so you will fall if you try to go straight across. Kill the Golem and then warp to Anor Londo after placing the Lord Vessel. Run past the Armored Boars guarding the Duke's Archives and between the elevator going up and the railing. Reload and the Armored Boars will be in their spawn positions. You will still need to kill the second one, so kite it and run between the elevator and the railing. They cannot get past, and this is a perfect spot to cheese them. Rest at the Bonfire and go up the elevator. After killing all other enemies in the room, kill the Crystal Golem standing off to the side to get the Broken Pendant. WARNING!!! Enemies will come into the room once you go anywhere near the doorway. They may take a while to get there, but they are buffed and will easily kill you if you are distracted by the Crystal Golem.
Now head back to the place where you fought the Gold Crystal Golem, and enter the "DLC", Artorias of the Abyss (AotA). Once you kill the Guardian and Artorias, you can give Artorias' Soul to Ciaran to get her weapons. These will be your "final weapons". They are both upgraded using Twinkling Titanite. Now you can also use a basic weapon for the Catacombs by infusing it with Divine. This will let you kill the Reviving Skeletons without killing the Necromancers. When you get the Skull lantern after being pushed down by Patches, trade it with Snuggly at the Undead Assylum to get the Fog Ring.
The Black Knight Guantlets are picked up off a corpse in the Kiln of the First Flame, where you fight the final boss, Gwyn.
