This is a player-created Build for Dark Souls. If you want help making your own build, you can consult this useful page on how to make a build by Blaine.
As of 21 November 2011, I remade this build as a 3 slotter to be able to use both Darkmoon Blade and Sunlight Blade. More updates to follow as I get more information and testing with the new Patch 1.0.5.
First of All, I give credit to Astrichthyes for this build idea and this build may actually "mirror" his. This is a very powerful Darkmoon Blade Tank that uses the best Strength Build weapons in the game with Darkmoon Blade Buff and a backup Sunlight Blade Buff.
- Build Name: Faith - Strength Hybrid

Build Equipment
-
Recommended Set-Up:
LH1: Darkmoon Talisman
LH2: Grass Crest Shield, Bloodshield (There is really no need to upgrade these shields since you will be 2 Handing weapons most of the time with this build. These shields give you extra resistances or stamina regen while sitting on your back). You could use a good 3 lb shield such as Caduceus Kite Shield+15 or Dark Hand (for shielding purposes) to save 3 lbs of equipment burden for a 1 Handed Man Serpent Greatsword, Great Club, or Large Club setup.
RH1: 2H Demon's Great Axe+15, 2H Demon's Great Mechete+15, " target="">Man Serpent Greatsword+15, Great Club+15, Large Club+15
RH2: Leave empty. The above listed weapons hit hard even without a buff.
Note: Divine+10 or Occult+5 (depending on FTH stat scaling) variants of these weapons is recommended if you want to make this a build that does not rely on buffs. -
Recommended Miracles:
Set-up 1. Darkmoon Blade, Sunlight Blade, Wrath of the Gods
Set-up 2. Darkmoon Blade, 2X Wrath of the Gods
Set-up 3: Wrath of the Gods, Greater Magic Barrier (if you want a defensive buff set-up and use Divine+10 weapons instead of DMB) -
Recommended Rings
Set-up 1. Ring of Favor and Protection and Darkwood Grain Ring (The more safe and "User Friendly" set-up for more hp and stamina)
Set-up 2. Havel's Ring and Darkwood Grain Ring (This set-up is only recommended for Veteran/Experienced players. Not recommended for beginners) -
Recommended Armor (for Man Serpent GS Setup)
Set-up 1. Dusk's Drown or Mask of the Mother/Child, Orntein's Armor, Gauntlets of Favor+5, Havel's Leggings. (55 Poise)
Set-up 2. Mask of the Father, Giant's Gear everything else (77 Poise).
Set-up 3. If you are running Havel's and Darkwood Grain Ring set-up, Mask of the Mother/Dusk'sCrown and Full Giants Gear elsewhere (77 Poise). The next breakpoint beyond 77 is 91 Poise if you start equipping Havel's Pieces and Mask of the Father. -
Recommended Armor (for All others - the heavier weapons)
More to follow on this for exact pieces. The goal is to mix and match pieces to obtain at least 40 poise with Dusk's Crown/Mask of the Mother/Mask of the Child or 53 poise with Mask of the Father.
Recommended Consumables:
Green Blossum
Consumable Buffs (Gold Pine Resin or Charcoal Resin for backup)
Humanity (to heal between battles or within a battle if you are facing a "chugger" host)
Build Strategy
Playthrough:
You will start off weak with only a mace as your starting gear. Recommend upgrading that to Divine as soon as possible or getting a Divine Battle Axe for low level play. As a Blade of the Darkmoon, you will need Souvineers of Reprisal. I chose the Pendant as my gift so it can be traded with "Snuggly" for a free souvineer. You obtain a 2nd one by killing Knight Lautrec in Anor Londo. This repeats in NG for a total of 4 free ones. The other 6, you must pull of successful invasions with the Blue Eye Orb or farm the Harpies in the Painted World or Ariamis (rare drop). Recommend using a Divine Great Axe+10, Divine Man Serpent Great Sword+10, or Lightning Weapons until you obtain at least one of your buffs.
Damage Testing Results:
Demon's Great Axe+15: 660 AR Base Damage.
With DMB Buffs: 1089, 1111, 1133 AR with respective ranks. OHKO Backstabs on most opponents
Great Club+15: 650 AR Base Damage
With DMB Buffs: 1079, 1101, 1123 AR with respective ranks. OHKO Backstabs on most opponents
Man Serpent Great Sword+15 ( more to follow. mid to upper 400's 1H stance, lower 500's 2H stance base damage). Capable of doing 950+ AR when buffed.
To get both Darkmoon Blade and Sunlight Blade, Get the Sunlight Blade and miracles you get from other covenants on your first playthrough. Join the Blades of the Darkmoon on your second playthrough.
Build Pros:
1. Huge Damage. (This is one of the hardest hitting builds there is)
2. Long melee range
3. Can break guards on turtles and high poise opponents
4. Superior for "Baiting"
Build Cons:
1. Low Vitality compared to other builds
2. Low poise armor sets due to high equipment burden
3. Very slow weapon swing speed
4. Time consuming to make (2 Playthroughs required with Titanite Slab farming)
PSN: Nut-Hand
I followed this build and I am not fast rolling, thus rendering the dark wood grain ring useless. I have 40 endurance and havel's ring yet I can't fast roll with any of the armor sets listed above while using the man-serpent greatsword.
